Make Me Laugh

Since I live in Florida, I had to pass this one on.

We had a tragic Bird Flu hit us last year and this was the results of this epidemic.

I guess I should explain to those who don’t know what these are. Here in Florida, we are known to put plastic pink Flamingo’s in our yard and this is just a great joke if you live here.

They aren’t real!! :)

My Inspiration

My layout for this week is about My Hero and it works so well with the blog prompt today about who inspires me.

My husband was a fireman for 32 years in the Atlanta area and I am so proud of him for this. I am so proud of all our men and women who stand in the line of danger every day to keep us safe.

The kits I used from DSP are Basic Basic by Meryl and the Freebie Kit, Because I love You kit by Rene, the freebie shakers and Did You Know word art by Tina.

My Inspiration

I feel this is a good definition of success. “Success is the completion of anything intended.”

This describes my husband to a tee. When we met, I knew what an inspiration he was going to be in my life. I just lived a ho hum life that I felt was not going any where. But because of him, I now own an on line business and is also a partner with him in our real estate business. Just the thought of owning more than one property just terrified me, but with his help and knowledge in the business I am able to buy, fix up and sell a property with ease now. I would say the most important thing he has taught me is you have to work hard for what you want in life and that I can do anything if I set my mind to it.

My life is so full now because of his teachings and I feel so much more confident now than I ever have. I thank God every day for letting our paths cross.

Favorite Cookie

What’s your favorite cookie? Do you make it? Does someone else? Do you buy it?

I actually have two different cookies I love the best. Chocolate Chip and Oatmeal Raisin. Depending on the “time of the month”, and you girls know what I mean, decides on which cookie I make.

I have tried for years to make Toll House Cookies, but they just don’t seem to bake very well. I go right by the recipe, but when they bake, they roll up in little balls. Of course, everyone around me that bakes them turn out wonderful! So, I buy those cookies at the grocery store bakery and enjoy them just as much.

Most Creative Time of Day

I guess I would say my most creative part of the day is in the morning. I workout in the mornings before I do anything else, and I guess all that oxygen makes my mind really work in high gear. By time the afternoon gets here, I am ready to sit back and relax.

Daily Routine

What is the most tedious or boring part of your daily routine/job? What is the most creative?

I have mentioned in the past that I was raised in a Navy family, so our home was in “ship shape” most of the time. So, of course, I picked up some of those traits from my dad and I have to have my bed made every day!!!! I hate that job!! I don’t mind mopping the floor, but I hate to vacuum. I hate to cook, but I don’t mind cleaning up the kitchen!! I am constantly picking up stuff, picking up lint off the area rug. Moving this and that! I don’t like that I am a clean freak, but I think I would hate it even more if I wasn’t one.

I guess my most creative part would be my butterfly garden in the back yard. Our back yard extends about 10 feet from our lanai before you are in the neighbors yard, so I don’t have much room to work. Our homes are very close here, which is good in a retirement community because you sure don’t want a large yard to take care of in your aging years. I have been working on this garden for a couple of years now and love to sit on the lanai and watch them flutter around all the different flowers. I also have bird feeders back there and now have quite a few birds that visit like to visit them. I am still trying to get hummingbirds, but they aren’t wanting to cooperate at this time.

I think one of my most creative things around my home is that I love to take old pictures and movies and make DVD’s with them. I have seen too many homes destroyed around here because of tornadoes and hurricanes and in a blink of an eye, all those precious memories are gone and can’t be replaced. My husband and I worked on one project together where we took all my dad’s, my brother’s, my father-in-law’s and my husbands military pictures, medals and patches and made a collage with them. We also took all my husbands fire department medals, patches and pictures and did the same with them. So we now have a wonderful Wall of Honor in our home.

Can you tell I like to talk a lot??

Favorite Color

I guess I am a blue person. A very dark navy blue. My dad was in the Navy and you know I had to have my little sailor outfits and alot of navy blue was part of that.

I also love aqua and tangerine because they are the colors of the Miami Dolphins!! Go FINS!!!!!!

The History of Blue

History and Lore: In religious symbolism, blue signifies truth and is associated with the creative power of God. It has been used by priests at the grave, for it is symbolic of heaven. In ancient Rome, blue was worn by the public servants, thus marking the beginning of the idea for today’s police uniforms. The expression “true blue” for constancy and fidelity perhaps originated with mariners, who associated the blue sky with freedom from storms. “Something blue” in the wedding jingle comes from the early Israelites, to whom blue symbolized love, fidelity, and purity.

Daily Uses: When the eye is fully adapted to the dark, blue can be seen over a wider range of vision than red, thus making it useful for railroad signaling. In factories, blue often marks equipment to be repaired. It is also used as a sign of caution on switch boxes and control levers. Blue is associated with air mail and the navy. It is the color most preferred by men. A survey has shown blue to be the bestselling color in women’s sweaters because women think men like it. Because it has a sedative effect, it is a beneficial hue for rooms intended for relaxation and rest. In a small room it creates a feeling of space. In foods, blue is found in blue plums and blueberries.

Colorful Phrases: Feeling blue, singing the blues, blue movie, blue-ribbon winner, blue funk, blue jeans, bluenose, once in a blue moon, blue Monday, the wild blue yonder, blue blood, blue in the face, blueprint, bluegrass, blue laws, Bluebeard, the Bluebird of Happiness.

Words to describe me!

I am definately a very dependable friend and so I would be a “depfri”. Friendship is very important to me and I treasure that dearly. Whether with my husband or other friends, its treasured.

I am also a “DolFan”, a Miami Dolphin Fan!!

Another word that I made up when I moved here to Florida is “Crocolgator”. Since I don’t know if there are crocodiles or alligators here, I just put them together.
