The Beauty of Spring

My latest layout and boy did I reach for a different idea this time. The Kit I used is Pick Me by Lauren Bavin and the colors are just wonderful. So I had to use a picture from Cypress Gardens that I took. The colors really pop!

Any Books??

My favorite book so far is Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood: A Novel

This is the only book that made me cry and laugh at the same time. It home so much about the trials and tribulations between a mother and a daughter. Its a great read for any woman.

The movie wasn’t the best, so read the book.

I love all of Lisa Scottoline’s and John Grissom’s books. Thats about all I have been reading lately.

Weekend Prompt

Since I live in Florida, its virtually a growing season all year long. A lot of our bushes and plants will go dormant and it seemed the moment our weather starting getting warmer, every thing just grows by leaps and bounds.

Saturday was the day my husband and I got out to trim bushes, mow the yard, put down fertilizer, plant annuals in the pots and in our landscaping. What a job!! We were out there most of the day. It was really nice weather, not too hot with no humidity. But, the sun was shinning and I put sun screen on my face and forgot my back. So I am paying for it today with a red back that you can’t touch. Someday I will learn the sun will find places to burn on my body!!

The yard looks great and all our bushes are trimmed and the flowers are planted. We can take a breather, but not for too long!

As a child I loved to ride my bike, take roller skate lessons, go to Girl Scouts and swim. I guess swimming being my fav. I still to this day love the water and being around it.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Superstitious?

Are you superstitious? Does the thought of ‘Friday the 13th’ make you nervous?

I have some superstitious qualities about me. I use to bowl for almost 30 years and I had a lot of superstitions with that. I didn’t practice before I started bowling, I never wanted anyone to talk to me while I was stinging strikes and I would do the same for them, I always wore my special “bowling jeans”, and of course, no one was allowed to sit in my chair.

But in every day life, I guess I’m not superstitous, I don’t think. I do think about that this is Friday the 13th, and maybe I shouldn’t step on the crack in the sidewalk cause it could break my momma’s back, and I saw a black cat this morning walking. I better be on my toes today!!

I must add at this point though, that my favorite football player of all time is Dan Marino and his number was 13. So there is 13 all over my office with his memorbilia, so the number can’t be all that bad.

Sibling’s Day

Yes, I have a little brother but by looking at him though, you would think he was my big brother. Our family is not small in frame at all and when you put my “little” brother next to me, he is a Mr. Atlas without working on it. Beautiful wavy hair, a great smile, always making me laugh and a great father and husband.

I have tons and tons of stories about my brother and how he use to annoy me to no end when I was younger. Come to think of it, he still does annoy me! But, my best stories of him are of recent.

He married for the 1st time at the age of 42 and became a father for the 1st time a couple years later to a wonderful son named Denver. My parents now have 2 grandchildren 25 years apart. I don’t get to see my brother much now since I live in Florida, but we still see each other at least once a year. He will be here with his family in May and I can’t wait.

But the thing I will always be most proud of my brother for is that he has given many years of his life to our military. He recently spent a year in Iraq with his National Guard unit and missed the birth of his only child. Those were long days while he was gone, but he has made a commitment to his country and he will always stand by that.
