Blog Prompt: How does your city celebrate this day or do you do anything special? Do you know anyone who has served in the military? If so, let us know so that we can honor all of those who serve their country.
Memorial Day to our family is a day to remember all in our family members who has served in the military and to reflect on the reason why they do so. We fly our flags, look at old pictures and shed a tear or two for the ones that are no longer with us. Many in my family and my husband’s family have served this great country and I salute them all.
My father served 2o years in the Navy, my husband served in the Air Force and his dad served in the Army during WWII. There was a total of 6 members of my husbands family, including his father, that fought during WWII and all 6 came home. My brother has served a period in the Navy and has been serving in the National Guard for many years now. He was deployed for a year in Iraq recently and all 500 of his unit came home safely.
I also have to salute the families that are left behind while their loved ones are deployed. I know there were many months where it was just my mom, my brother and myself. I have also known many families that are left behind and the courage that it takes for them to endure this time alone. I salute all these families for their sacrifices and send many hugs to them at this time!
I thank God everyday for this great country I live in and all the men and women that stand behind the red, white and blue.
Blog Prompt: I wish I could learn….. because…..
I would love to learn another language. I was taught a little Spanish in school, but never sat down to learn it well.
Actually, I want to learn anything that keeps my brain working and functioning well. Alzheimer’s really scares me and I am always wanting to keep my mind young. Doing crossword puzzles, reading a lot, etc. Learning another language, I think, would just keep those brain cells working hard!
