Make’s Me Smile

Blog Prompt: Since today is Terrific Thursday, we need something for a positive attitude today. Tell about something that made you smile yesterday or today.

As I have aged and gotten closer and closer to 50, I now know what all my elders have been saying all these years. The idea that I wake up every morning and can move without hurting makes me smile everyday!! Of course, then after getting out of bed and seeing my husband first thing makes me smile from ear to ear. And I can’t leave out my daily companion, Ernest T. Bass, our rescued boxer. He ALWAYS meets me at my bedroom door and is always so happy to see me in the morning with plenty of slobber and slurps.

What more could a woman ask for then to have the most important things in her life great her in the morning with smiles, hugs and kisses.

Favorite Age

Blog Prompt: If you could be child for one day, how old would you be and what would you do?

I would like to be back in my 20’s and 30’s and know what I know about our real estate business and what I could’ve done with all that information. I just wish I had more time with to grow my business, like I would’ve back then.

Memorial Day and Learning

Blog Prompt: How does your city celebrate this day or do you do anything special? Do you know anyone who has served in the military? If so, let us know so that we can honor all of those who serve their country.

Memorial Day to our family is a day to remember all in our family members who has served in the military and to reflect on the reason why they do so. We fly our flags, look at old pictures and shed a tear or two for the ones that are no longer with us. Many in my family and my husband’s family have served this great country and I salute them all.

My father served 2o years in the Navy, my husband served in the Air Force and his dad served in the Army during WWII. There was a total of 6 members of my husbands family, including his father, that fought during WWII and all 6 came home. My brother has served a period in the Navy and has been serving in the National Guard for many years now. He was deployed for a year in Iraq recently and all 500 of his unit came home safely.

I also have to salute the families that are left behind while their loved ones are deployed. I know there were many months where it was just my mom, my brother and myself. I have also known many families that are left behind and the courage that it takes for them to endure this time alone. I salute all these families for their sacrifices and send many hugs to them at this time!

I thank God everyday for this great country I live in and all the men and women that stand behind the red, white and blue.

Blog Prompt: I wish I could learn….. because…..

I would love to learn another language. I was taught a little Spanish in school, but never sat down to learn it well.

Actually, I want to learn anything that keeps my brain working and functioning well. Alzheimer’s really scares me and I am always wanting to keep my mind young. Doing crossword puzzles, reading a lot, etc. Learning another language, I think, would just keep those brain cells working hard!

Best Teacher

Blog Prompt: Describe the best teacher you ever had.

I guess the teacher I admired the most was Mr. Fowlkes. He was my algebra teacher for 2 years in High School and I just loved the way he taught. I always understood what he meant and enjoyed the class very much. I just wish I had told him that at some point. Maybe he is reading this now in Blog Heaven. Thank you Mr. Fowlkes

Another teacher that saw my art ability was Mr. McCollum. He was always wanting me to stay in art class in High School for 4 years, but I only took it for 1. I regret that now because I love being creative and I miss painting like I use to.

I will always admire any teacher that wants to teach our children today. I look at the situation in a lot of our schools here in the US and it saddens me that teachers can’t take over their classes anymore and that a lot of administrations don’t stand behind them either. I hope someday, our children will let our teachers do their jobs again.

I hate COCONUT

Blog Prompt: I don’t like this food because…..

I HATE, HATE, HATE coconut! It’s like eating paper and the texture just really makes me shake when its in my mouth. My mother would put coconut in a cake, knowing that I love that type of cake, and all I have to do is put the bite to my lips and I can feel it!! She thinks its funny. I think its cruel to ruin perfectly good cake with that stuff. This is the only thing that will cause me not to have some cakes and cookies, even though I want them so bad, because there is coconut in them. YUK!!

I could never be on Survivor because they eat that stuff 24/7. So, I guess I will never win a million dollars.

Night Night Time

Blog Prompt: What do you think about when you can’t fall asleep?

I’m sure I am like everyone else. Run through my mind the things that happened that day or what needs to be done with the business. I try really hard not to think of that stuff, but then it makes you think about it even more!! So, I try to think of peaceful things. Like my butterfly garden, stuff like that. I ALWAYS get my husband to make me have a little giggle before we say goodnight. Now why is it some people can turn over and in less than a minute the fall asleep. My husband does that and there I am laying next to him listening to him snore. So I turn over and then there is the dog snoring. Whats a woman to do?

Free Entertainment

Blog Prompt: Tell about something you do for entertainment that doesn’t cost any money.

The most entertainment I get that’s free just about every minute of my life is talking and being with my husband. He was a fire fighter for 32 years and some of the things that comes out of that boys mouth, makes me wonder. His sense of humor is what attracted me to him the very 1st day we met. I laugh from the time I get up in the morning, til I go to sleep at night. He ain’t right, but he’s all mine!!

I guess my other free entertainment would be to watch the birds and butterfly’s in my garden and watch my “not so bright” dog play. He ain’t right either, so I guess I am the only sane person in this house!! ;)

My Son

My son has decided, after teaching for 2 years in public schools, that he needs to get his masters. Seems like he has gone to school all his life. I really think he will end up teaching in college, where the kids want to learn and play music. He loves to teach small children how to play the violin and its so cute to see them play at that age. How wonderful it must be to be able to teach someone to play an instrument.

I did this layout in his honor because I know he will get his masters and that will be just one more step up in his life.

Least Important

Blog Prompt: Which is least important to you–money, power, fame–and why?

All of the above.
Well, of course who wouldn’t want to have money, power or fame, but the most important thing for me to have is my life everyday, my faith, my wonderful husband and my family and friends. That means more to me than any amount of money, power or fame.

I FEEL BETTER!!

Blog Prompt: Tell about something that made you feel good this week.

This isn’t going to be the typical answer, but since its just us girls here I can really express how good I feel today!!

I am slowly going through the beginnings of menopause right now and I never know when my period is going to come. And I am sure some of you guys can relate to this. For the past 3 weeks, my hips hurt, I felt like a Weeble Wobble walking around because of the bloating, my bra couldn’t hold what God gave me and I was wearing my Super Duper Those Things Aren’t Moving Bra , I was upset at anything and everything and almost decked a guy in his golf cart yesterday when he told me I couldn’t walk my dog in the street next to the curb, I was eating everything in site (good thing I didn’t have a car to go to the store) and the headache felt like daggers sticking out of my head. Oh, this was I believe the worse I have ever felt in all my months of woman hood, untillllllllllllll LAST NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I woke up and there it was, the thing I hate most about being a woman, but I was never so happy to see it in my life!!!!!!!!!!

*sigh* I can now enjoy life again

I read that you should use all that energy that is building up to do something productive. Evidently all those articles were wrote by MEN!!

*sigh* I feel better now.
