TV Moms

Blog Prompt: Since Mother’s Day is approaching, who do you think was the best TV mom and why?

I guess my choice would be June Cleaver from Leave it to Beaver. I mean what a woman!!! She always had on pearls, tight fitting dresses, high heel shoes, the perfect makeup, always cooked 3 meals a day and it seemed she hardly ever left the kitchen. I remember watching her, when I was younger, and wondered why she always looked that good and there wasn’t any mothers I knew that looked like that. Little did I know that TV mom’s were special. Even when it came to discipline with the boys, she passed that to Ward. Same in my house too!!
I hate to see those times leave us today. I wasn’t a stay at home mom, and I wish I could’ve been. I am in aw now that there are women today that can stay home with their moms.

The Duggar Family

I do have another Mom that is on the top of my list as one of those special mom’s that you just can’t imagine exists. Here name is Michelle Duggar and she and her husband are raising 16 children. Their story is on the Discovery Health Channel and if you get a chance, please watch the shows. You just won’t believe their story and how they do it with that many children.

The Duggar Family Please click on the link I provided to visit the website to read about the family, watch some video and see the tv schedule of their shows. It will be well worth your time.

Being Safe

Blog Prompt: What makes you feel safe?

My husband would have to be my 1st choice of making me feel safe. And I have no doubt that he would not think twice to make sure of that.

I also feel that because of our wonderful military, here in the US, that we are very safe. They have kept us from having wars within our borders for many years now and I hope, they will always be there for us.

I have much confidence in our public service personal, such as our policeman and firemen. They are there quickly by a simple dialing of the phone. These people seem to put their lives on the line to save us first.

Ghosts??

Blog Prompt: What do you think about ghosts?

I LOVE ghosts!! I love horror flics, especially the really older ones. I watch a lot of stuff about them on TV and I truly believe that spirits are here on this earth with us. I am sure there are good and bad ones and I hope the ones that follow me are good ones and look after me.

Now then, if I was ever confronted by one, I think I would probably lose it.

Spook Hill

Legend says, “Many years ago an Indian village on Lake Wales was plagued by raids of a huge gator. The Chief, a great warrior, killed the gator in a battle that created a small lake. The chief was buried on the north side. Pioneer mail riders first discovered their horses laboring down hill, thus naming it “Spook Hill.” When the road was paved, cars coasted up hill. Is this the gator seeking revenge, or the chief still trying to protect his land?”

Spook Hill is in the small town of Lake Wales, FL and we just had to go to it and see if when you park your car on the white line, put your car in neutral will it really pull you backwards. IT DOES!!!! That was better than any ride at Six Flags. There is also an elementary school right down the road that is called Spook Hill Elementary School and their mascot is Casper the Ghost.

I also did a layout of the day we went to Spook Hill. To this day, this is my favorite layout. If you look closely at the picture I took that’s next to the Spook Hill sign, you can see that where the road dips down is where you park your car and then it rolls up the hill. Your car is facing the taller hill and the car would roll toward the bottom of the picture. We had to do it 3 times just to make sure it worked!!

What to Fix for Dinner??

You have heard that the President and his wife of an obscure country is coming to visit and picked you (and your family if you want) to have dinner with. You can decide to cook for them or order in or take them out. What 5 dishes would you want them to taste? They can be any part of a meal (appetizers, main dish, vegetables, salads, desserts) or all of one type (all desserts for example).

Since my husband and I our redneck southerners, here is our list.

1. BBQ – Chicken, pork or beef. We BBQ them all.
2. Brunswick Stew – This is a stew that was made by settlers that would take the “catch of the day” and make a stew out of it with vegetables. Really good.
3. Potato Salad, Coleslaw and Fried Okra and maybe, if it is in season, fresh Sweet Corn on the Cob.
4. Baked Beans
5. Strawberry Shortcake with fresh, grown in the garden

YUMMY!!!!!!!

Must See Places

You won the travel lotto! You will get an all expense paid trip for you and your family to 5 places anywhere in the world. List the 5 “Must See” places in the world you would go see.

1. Hawaii is my first choice because I had lived there back in the early 60′s while my dad was stationed there in the Navy. I would love to go back and see where I use to go to school and where I lived.

2. Switzerland is really for my husband. His father served during World War II and was stationed in the Switzerland area and he would love to go back and see the things his dad had seen. I have never been out of the US before and this would be a challenge for me but I think very exciting.

3. An Alaskan cruise in the summer time. I have heard its just beautiful up there.

4. Australia would be my next choice. By everything I have ever read or seen, this little country seems to have it all when it comes to nature and city life!! Its so beautiful and I would love to see it in person.

5. My last choice would be to see parts of the US that I have not seen yet. There are so many exciting places and history in this great country I live in. I would love to rent and RV and just drive and drive from one city to another and see all the wonderful people and places. Read all the history and just soak it all in.
