Many Hats

How many different ‘hats’ will you wear today? Will you be mom, grandma, employee, employer..etc. How do you balance all of it?

My hats today are wife, secretary, accountant, business woman and of course, lazy person toward the end of the day. Have to take a nap you know. Its a requirement of all retired folk!

We have our own business, so I have to do all the secretarial work, all the accounting work, take care of my business and my most important work is being a wife. That is my biggest hat of all.

It’s not hard for me to balance my day. I am waaaayyyyyy too organized for the normal person, so I have my day pretty much always on schedule.

Movies that make me laugh

What was the last movie that made you really laugh? Or do you have one you’ve seen over and over and still makes you laugh?

To this day, my favorite comedy is National Lampoon’s Animal House. I don’t know why. It’s corny and stupid, but it makes me laugh. The horse, Belushi on the ladder going from window to window, “Guess what I am?”, etc. One of the reasons, I guess, why that movie makes me laugh is because I had just gotten out of college when it came out.

Others include National Lampoon’s Vacation and Christmas Vacation, Ace Ventura (Dan Marino is in that one and the Miami Dolphins), My Cousin Vinny has some great lines in it, an oldie No Time for Sergent’s (Andy Griffith is a hoot and I love to repeat some of his lines sometimes), There’s Something About Mary and I could go on and on.

I love movies that don’t make me think too hard, make me laugh out loud and enjoy myself. I watch those movies over and over.

Fav Spot

Stand in a favorite spot in your house, garden, wherever and describe it for us in detail.

The sun is shinning and its warm here today in Central Florida and its been raining almost everyday. Which is a very good thing in an area needing water desperately.

I am looking at my latest find of a Black Swallowtail cocoon and a few of the caterpillars eating away at the parsley I planted for them. All the flowers are in full bloom and the butterflies are floating around, trying to figure out which flower to go to next. There are zinnias, brown eyed susans, marigolds, salvia, yarrow, chives, parsley, dill, wild columbine, butterfly bushes, coreopsis, coneflowers, lantana, sedum and pentas.

A few birds show up now and again to partake in a little bird seed I leave for them. The hummingbirds though, haven’t found their way to the feeder yet.

I love my butterfly garden.

Advice

What a beautiful picture of a friends newest grand daughter and her mother spending the 4th of July at the beach. I just loved this picture and how it turned out.

I used Dust and Denim by Kara Jones.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Not to get in such a rut that I don’t think I can do better for myself. Always think outside the box. Read more, research more and learn more about something you want to do and just don’t let it slip through your fingers. Self, I can do anything I set my mind to.

Creative Team

I have recently been added to the creative team of k joi studios and I am so excited to do this. This is my first creative team acceptance and I can’t wait to pump up my creative juices into over drive with Kara and Design Teams beautiful kits.
This is my first layout with Kara’s Dust and Denim kit which you can find in her store now.
I have a butterfly garden in my backyard and this is the 1st year I have seen a cocoon. I am hoping to catch the Black Swallowtail emerge from the cocoon in the next few days.
Be sure and take a look at some great layouts, kits and freebies.

Fav food as a child

Do you have favorite childhood foods that you still love? Or ones you can’t believe you used to eat?

That’s easy!! CANDY CORN!!!!!!!! I don’t know why, but when Halloween comes around, I have to have candy corn. And since the word “corn” is in the title, its part of the 4 food groups and is allowed.

Reading

How many books do you have started, but not finished? Or do you only read one book at a time?

Right now I have a Lisa Scottoline book started and haven’t finished yet. I pretty much start a book and finish it before I go to the next one. I love Lisa’s books and try to read what ever she has out. My son wants me to read the Harry Potter books and not see the movies. Maybe that will be my next one to start up.

I love to read, but my old, really bad eyes don’t!! I can read for a few minutes, then have to stop. And now I have to find books with much bigger print and can’t read paper backs anymore. Even with “cheaters”, I still have problems. Hoping someday to have the surgery where I can see normally!!

Trivia

Share a piece of useless/interesting information with the rest of us today.

I know wayyyyyyy too much stuff about bowling. I mean all the ins and outs of a lane, the machines, the pins and the balls that are used.

I bowled for almost 30 years and was a lane inspector for a few years and some kind of officer for most of that time. So, I had to learn the ins and outs of bowling, leagues, associations, bowling etiquette, the lanes, all the rules and other information that the majority of people in the USA don’t know or care about! For example: If you own a bowling alley that has sanctioned leagues and tournaments, you have to have your lanes inspected. How long the lanes are, how far the oil goes on the lanes, how deep the impressions are from constant wear from the balls, the width, making sure the pins come down on a certain spot and I could go on and on.
Lets see………..the lanes have to be 60 feet long, the oil can’t go over 45 feet, WIBC stands for Women’s International Bowling Congress, there are only 2 companies in the world that make bowling lanes, AMF or Brunswick, if you get 111th in the 7th frame you owe me a soda, 3 strikes is called a Turkey, etc. I could go on all day long.

I loved bowling all those years and hated when I left it to move to Georgia. I bowled a few times after that, but it wasn’t the same. I miss my team and there will never be another team to replace them. We had a good team, we bowled great together and had way too much fun for the normal person to have. They were my girls, my pals, my buddies.

My bowling pals.
