Dress Code

Now that school has started back here, the big issue is the dress code. Do you agree with having a dress code and if so, who should determine what it should be? Should it be the principal, the school board, the students, the parents, the state dept. of ed or someone else?

I love the idea of a dress code. I know most charter, magnet and private schools have dress codes and that’s great. And I have heard of public school systems using a dress code also.

There is so much pressure on our children with material items and people are killed over the smallest of those items. I think if all the children were on the same level when it comes to their clothes they wear to school, maybe some of that violence would stop.

Who should decide a dress code?? I am a very big advocate of each taking care of their own problems and I think that should be left up to the school district. I don’t think any government department should have control over that.

I know there would be a lot of people upset about having to buy the uniforms, but then, how much do they pay for those designer jeans and other clothing items.

Freezer Items

Just call me nosy Rosy! I had to defrost my freezer this month in hopes of repairing it, which we did. It amazed me to find stuff in there that I had forgotten about! Name 5 things in your freezer right now.

1. Sweet Corn on the cob
2. Bread (too hot in Florida to keep bread out)
3. Pizza
4. Shrimp
5. Salmon

I wish there were sweets in there, but there isn’t. Need them now!!!

Herbs

Today is More Herbs, Less Salt Day. What herb(s) do you like in your food?

I guess I have to say that it would be garlic. I love it!! I use it in almost anything.

My father is a heart transplant patient, so I learned very early in life the benefits from eating garlic. So, I do it often.

Side effects – your partner needs to eat it too when it comes to smooching time.

Ill

Describe the most serious illness you have ever had.

I have always rated my “hurts” in order. I haven’t really been seriously ill, but I have had a few things happen to me that I would rate as “serious hurt”

1. Having my wisdom teeth pulled in my 20’s.
2. Having my tonsils removed at 19
3. Having a baby

After having my teeth removed, the pain pills made me sick, I got dry socket and after all that, didn’t loose a dang pound!

When I had my tonsils removed, the doctor accidental clipped a nerve near my ear. That was pain I can’t describe and a couple days before I had my tonsils removed, my mother made me have a complete GI series run to make sure my stomach was ok. I had no idea what that was about. Then I found out. Then I yelled at my parents.

Having a baby was a breeze. I had a couple really hard pains and there he was. The worse part was getting over the stitches.

I did have the flu, first time ever, over the Christmas holidays in 1999 and New Year’s Eve night I spent it on the couch. That was bad and really messed up Christmas. I don’t think I had ever been that sick before. Ran 103 temp for 3 days in a row and couldn’t work for 2 weeks. And when I get fever it goes straight to my eyes and they hurt so bad. Finally had to go to the doc and get something for what was wrong with me and in a couple days I was much better. I blame that disease on my dearest friend. She came bowling on Monday coughing, and by Wednesday we all had the flu. We still laugh about it today and if she ever coughs, we will all get up and move to another table. :)

Hoodie Hoo Day

Thurs. Aug. 23 is Southern Hemisphere Hoodie-Hoo Day — Long awaited by our Southern-half friends, this is the day to go outdoors at high noon and yell “Hoodie-Hoo” to chase winter and make ready for spring. Do you do something traditional during a specific season (like spring cleaning for example)? If so, what do you do?

I guess I would have to say that in the spring I do some really serious cleaning. You know, all around the baseboards, windows, corners where all those cobwebs are. Take down items and clean them up, serious dusting. And then I do the same outdoors. Here in Florida things really start growing in March and April, so its time to really do some trimming around the house.

I love Spring!! Hard work, but worth it.

Angel Day

Wednesday Aug 22 is Be an Angel Day. Tell something nice you could do for someone today.

Well I am already an angel, cause my daddy told me so. hehehehe

Anyway, I would be Pat’s (loonyhiker) angel for today and to help her to feel better. Bring her soup, do any chores that she needs done, let her rest, bring her a book, etc.

She is retired and doesn’t have time to be sick

Feel better soon Pat!!
