Halloween Costumes

Post a picture or describe your favorite Halloween costume.

I personally don’t have any pictures of myself in any costumes, but I do remember them. The classic bunny rabbit, indian, etc. I remember my brother and I dressed up as cats one year. My mom usually dressed us alike.

Now my son loved Halloween and I tried to make his costumes, when possible. My favorite was the year he was Bert from Ernie and Bert. It was such a cute costume and wasn’t that hard to make.

We would trick or treat around the neighborhood and when he got older, we would sit outside and give treats out to the younger kits. Then as he aged more, it became tradition to always watch the movie Halloween every year. A tradition I still do!

Veggies

What’s your favorite vegetable and how do you like to eat it? Or do you have a favorite dish that hides a vegetable that you don’t like?

I LOVE Sweet Corn. The sweeter the better. The brand I loveds is Super Sweet Corn on the Cob. Where I am from in Missouri, you could walk right out to the field and pick you an ear and just stand there and enjoy!

We also had a Sweet Corn Festival every year around the 4th of July just to celebrate our wonderful vegetable. We have parades, outhouse races, street dances, bike races, beauty contests. Always a great time fall all. I loved getting a case of corn to put up in the freezer. Makes my mouth water just thinking of it. Living in Florida, I haven’t found sweet corn that is as good as Missouri’s, but I will keep on looking.

Now then on the other end of the scale there are tomatoes. For some reason, I don’t think God put much work in that veggie. I don’t think the thing is done cooking. Its just toooooooooo yuk in the middle. The only way I will eat a tomato, because I know it has some wonderful vitamins in it, is to eat it on a sandwich or in a salad or sauce. But, never I mean NEVER by itself

Passing on Knowledge

In what areas do you feel you have knowledge you can pass on to others?

I think we all pass on knowledge to others and our next generation. I hope I am able to pass on things that are useful and usable.

I guess the best thing I am known for is that I am the Neighborhood Geek. I get phone calls now and again from neighbors having problems with their computers and I am always happy to pass on a little knowledge and help. Sometimes, as I try to explain how something works on their computer, I get that “blank” look. I try to explain in layman’s terms, but I end up hearing. I have no idea what you are talking about and if it works, then that’s all that matters.

I also hope that I can pass on a smile, kind words and a hug now and again to people I see every day. I also love to pass on some of my redneck life to my neighbors from the north. That is knowledge they all need to learn from.

My Weekend

My son came to visit my parents and me this past weekend so he could visit with my dad, who is very ill. My parents and my dh and I live in a 55+ community and my son was very intrigued to see how retired people live. He only had the movie Cocoon envisioned in his head. He found out that we all live a more active life then he ever thought of. He loved the idea of being able to get around in a golf cart and everything you ever needed was right there. He was also wanting to enjoy Florida weather, since its already cold where he lives, but no!! The weather was rainy and in the 60’s. Not normal for our area.

We also visited the area buffalo’s that are raised in this community also. You can feed them carrots and they love them. I also found out to NEVER TRY TO PET THEM!! I now have a pretty purple bruise on my arm when he lifted his head and his horn caught my under arm. So, now I can say I have been attached by a buffalo.

Abandoned Books

What books have you abandoned (without finishing) and why?

Oh my goodness. I love to read books and be entertained, but the past few years, my eyes have gotten worse, my vision is 20/1600 in both eyes, that its getting harder and harder for me to read. I had to go to hard back books, because the print is a bit larger and now its a struggle to read a few pages.

I am hoping in the next few months to have surgery done on my eyes, so that I will be able to enjoy driving and reading again.

But, back to the question. I have a book sitting on my night stand by Lisa Scottoline that I haven’t finished yet. It was getting a bit boring. Now my husband just read 2 of John Grishams books last week and really enjoyed them. So, those will be my next choices.

Million Dollars you say??

What is the first thing you’d go out and buy if someone handed you one million dollars? (that was supposed to sound like Dr. Evil from Austin Powers and yes, I have my pinkie by my mouth)

By golly, I want a bike. A bike where my dog and I can use so he can run and feel the wind in his hair, um his ears!! He wants to run so bad, and I’m too old to run with him, so a bike would be great. And the exercise would be great for the both of us.

Next, I would buy my family something fun, pay the bills in the business and take a long awaited trip with my husband to Europe to see where his father was during WWII.

And last of all, I would be myself a VW convertible. Navy blue with white top. Something fun for the hubby and I and a place where the dog can sit in the back, with his seat belt on, and enjoy a day in sunny central Florida.

Then the rest would invest for our future.

Found this picture at my moms house and had to scrap it. My son was my dads helper many times when we lived in Missouri.

Tongue Twister

Write your own tongue twister

Glenn’s glee glows gladly at the glob on the glass

Well, that didn’t work out very well. I tried. It’s Friday and the week’s worth of brain teasers have just shut down this old brain.

Our Weather

Creatively describe the weather in your area right now.

Bright clear blue skies, with a touch of a breeze blowing through the air. The shade just calls you out to watch the butterflies dance around the flowers and sometimes stop to take a little taste of the sweet nectar. The sun feels good on my face, but it also tells me that it will be much warmer this afternoon and sends an invitation to me to go and enjoy a dip in the warm waters of the pool. The air is fresh and clean, just like after a rainy day. Everything is beautiful and green and flowers blooming every where. You would never know it was fall here in Florida.

Word Games

Write one or more meaningful sentences where each consecutive word starts with the same letter as the word before it ends with.example:

Every year ripe eggplants …..

Games start to outrage even normal lives

This really made my brain think!! Which is good and bad, because old brains have to really search for brain cells in their brain cavity.

Favorite Food

In NO MORE than 30 words, describe your favorite food.

It makes me forget how hard the day treated me, how bad I feel and how good I will feel when the dark, creamy, brown, sweet chocolate passes my lips.

WOW that was hard!! I could go into a much more sensual description of dark chocolate but this place is rated G you know.
