Leaping Into Problems

Blog Prompt: Today is Leap Day. Have you ever “leaped” into something without thinking? What was it and how did it turn out?

I guess it would have to be my first marriage. All I wanted to do was get married, not thinking how young I was, I had no clue what to expect and in the long run I paid for it dearly. Mind you my wonderful son came from this marriage, but I don’t think his father or I were ready to get married. And after 22 years of marriage, we decided to stop living a lie and divorced.

But I have always felt that when something bad happens something good will happen in return. After my divorce, I met a wonderful man and life could not be happier for me. Now I know what marriage is suppose to be like and I really think that being older, much wiser is what helps me be a much better wife.

All About Oysters

Let’s start out with a joke today

Knock Knock
Who’s there?
Oyster
Oyster who?
Oyster you sure you should eat me??

I know that was a really bad joke, but all kidding aside, telling jokes about eating oysters could be harmful. I wanted to let you know about Gulf oysters. They are a great resource of vitamins A, B1(thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), C ( ascorbic acid) and D (calciferol). Four or five medium size oysters supply the recommended daily allowance of iron, copper, iodine, magnesium, calcium, zinc, manganese and phosphorus. But, they also have a down side too.

Not a serious health risk, but eating under cooked or raw fish may make you seriously ill. Living in Florida, you hear of people becoming ill from raw oysters.

Please check out Be Oyster Aware website to find out if you are more at risk than others.

Dogs and Blaming Others

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:
* When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
* Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
* Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
* Take naps.
* Stretch before rising.
* Run, romp, and play daily.
* Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
* Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
* On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
* On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
* When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
* Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
* Be loyal.
* Never pretend to be something you’re not.
* If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
* When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.

Blog Prompt: Feb. 13 was Blame Someone Else Day. Have you ever blamed someone else for something you did? What happened?

Of course I blamed something on someone else when I was a little girl. MY BROTHER!!!! He took alot of my mess ups, but now my mom sees through me. hehehe

My son, an only child, would blame things on the dog all the time. We use to have a fridge that, when you opened up the door, had a little water spout inside. I would find water on the floor from when he would open the door, push the spout with his finger and let water flow all over the place. I would find it, ask him why he did that and then he would blame it on the dog. Well, of course he would get caught in that lie every time.

Then one day, another puddle showed up by the fridge and of course, he blamed it on the dog. As I was cleaning it up and once again telling him about lying, I realized, this isn’t water on the floor. The dog really did do it!! Oh well. Mommies aren’t perfect.

I Finally Know Whats Wrong with Me

KNOW THE SYMPTOMS…..PLEASE READ!

Thank goodness there’s a name for this disorder. Somehow I feel better, even though I have it!!

Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. – Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how it manifests:

I decide to water my garden.
As I turn on the hose in the driveway,
I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.

As I start toward the garage,
I notice mail on the porch table that
I brought up from the mail box earlier.

I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys on the table,
Put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table,
And notice that the can is full.

So, I decide to put the bills back
On the table and take out the garbage first.

But then I think,
Since I’m going to be near the mailbox
When I take out the garbage anyway,
I may as well pay the bills first.

I take my check book off the table,
And see that there is only one check left.

My extra checks are in my desk in the study,
So I go to my desk where
I find the can of Coke I’d been drinking.

I’m going to look for my checks,
But first I need to push the Coke aside
So that I don’t accidentally knock it over.

The Coke is getting warm,
And I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke,
A vase of flowers on the counter
Catches my eye–they need water.

I put the Coke on the counter and
Discover my reading glasses that
I’ve been searching for all morning.

I decide I better put them back on my desk,
But first I’m going to water the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter,
Fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote.
Someone left it on the kitchen table.

I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV,
I’ll be looking for the remote,
But I won’t remember that it’s on the kitchen table,
So I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs,
But first I’ll water the flowers.

I pour some water in the flowers,
But quite a bit of it spills on the floor and the flowers didn’t get much.

So, I set the remote back on the table,
Get some towels and wipe up the spill.

Then, I head down the hall trying to
Remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:

The car isn’t washed

The bills aren’t paid

There is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter

The flowers don’t have enough water,

There is still only 1 check in my check book,

I can’t find the remote,

I can’t find my glasses,

And I don’t remember what I did with the car keys.

Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today.

I’m really baffled because I know I was busy all damn day,
And I’m really tired.

I realize this is a serious problem,
And I’ll try to get some help for it.
But first, I’ll check my e-mail….

Do me a favor.
Forward this message to everyone you know,
Because I don’t remember who the hell I’ve sent it to.

Don’t laugh — if this isn’t you yet, your day is coming!!

It’s Hell Getting Old!!

Beautiful Beds

I am certainly a girly girl and I love a girly bedroom and bathroom that smells like lavender and is frilly and soft. I just LOVE the bed in the picture above from the French Painted Bedroom Collection at Time4Sleep. It has an antique finish, wood carvings and iron handles with a rattan look. Beautiful!!

Now I know most of us married folk would never dream of having that type of bed in our master bedroom, but a girl can dream can’t she?? When I was a teenager, I had a French provincial bedroom suit and the bed above reminds me of my old bed so much. But this French Painted Bedroom Collection is not for little girls.

My old bed had a canopy and a beautiful bedspread to match, but now my niece has that bedroom suit and I’m so glad to see another little girl enjoying it. She decorated with loads of purple and its so adorable. I would love to have a bed like that again.

I found this bed at Time4Sleep and they have loads of beds to choose from. They have leather beds, children’s beds, antique beds and divan beds to choose from. They also have memory foam and mattresses to choose from.

If you live in the Huddersfield, UK area, check out this great place.

Self Esteem

Blog Prompt: This month is International Boost Self Esteem Month. What do you do in your life that boosts someone else’s self esteem or your own?

I guess age has changed my self esteem a lot over the years. And I also have to say my husband has helped with that also. Before we met, I would have NEVER thought about having a business on my own or flipping houses. He really knows how to motivate people and make them feel good about themselves. I’m sure being a Lieutenant in the fire department for 32 years has helped him learn those skills.

I guess what I have noticed lately is women older than myself, I am 50 years old, still having terrible self esteem about themselves. I just don’t understand that. We are women over 50, living longer, smarter, beautiful, successful, healthier than ever and just because a few wrinkles show up, all I hear is, “I’m ugly or I need a face lift.” I wish I knew what to say to people like that.

Now for a much lighter side of me. *s*

I went to high school in the late 70’s and I love ROCK N’ ROLL!!! My favorite band at that time and still today is Journey. There has never been a voice like Steve Perry’s. But now they have once again tried to put a Steve Perry want-ta-be in the band. I will always love Journey, but only with Steve Perry. Here is my favorite song of all time and I hope you all enjoy.

What would my robot do??

Blog Prompt: Feb. 7 was Love Your Robot Day. If you had a robot, what would you want this robot to do?

Well of course HE would be hot!! Not just any robot, but a nice looking one. He would cook, clean, do the laundry, mop the floor and give the dog a bath! And of course, I would be able to turn him off, (hehehe), when ever I want to. I don’t know if I want him to talk or not. Maybe when I need to ask a question and he must answer.

I would also love to have a robot driver!! I hate to drive and it makes me nervous. I would love that.

Shopping On line

I must admit I HATE standing in lines and I LOVE shopping on line. Face it, we know what we want, so why get dressed, use up some of that precious gas, stand in long lines, when you can shop on line. And who wants to do this the day after Thanksgiving. I have found the perfect place to help when it comes to shopping on line for Black Friday 2008.

Go to Black Friday 2008 and enjoy seeing what major shopping sites have to offer. There are so many to choose from like Walmart, Overstock.com (love that store and their service), Circuit City (electronics galore), Office Depot (not only office supplies), JoAnn Fabrics (craft supplies), Best Buy (I just ordered a floor cleaner there on line) and the list goes on. The site will keep things up to date for the next Black Friday coming up the day after Thanksgiving. You can also sign up for email updates.

When you click on the store you are interested in, a list will show up of what items are on sale! All the work is done for you. It can’t be more easier than that. I am looking at JoAnn Fabrics and there are tons of stuff on sale. Stuff that we love to do crafts with.

You can also find coupons, deals, make a shopping list and shopping tools.

George Washington’s Birthday

Blog Prompt: Today is George Washington’s birthday. He was known for not being able to tell a lie. Have you ever told a lie? If so, what was it? Were you ever caught?

I am NOT a good lier at all!! You can tell by looking at me when I lie. No eye contact, body language. So, yes, to the question. I use to get caught all the time as a young child. Since I am 50 now, I have no need to lie about trivial things anymore. Well, maybe not. hehehehhe
