Blog Prompt: Sports I love to watch or participate in

I love sports and have for a very long time. I use to participate in track and other sports while in High School and I bowled for about 30 years. I loved my bowling and miss it with a passion, but I haven’t picked up my ball now in about 4 years. I think I burned myself out bowling all those years. I still watch it sometimes on tv just to hear my husband say, “That’s not a sport”.

My favorite sport to watch would be football. My husband and I faithfully watch our teams during the fall. We both feel empty when the season is over. I am so proud of Mizzou this year and how well they did. My husband is a big Georgia fan, and its kind of hard to try and compare any team that’s not in the SEC. But, Mizzou was ranked higher than Georgia this year and that just tickled me. We love our football!!

Blog Prompt: Hobbies

I have a few things I love to do as a hobbie. I love to work out in my butterfly garden and putter in the yard. Love being outside and watching things grow that I planted. I also belong to the Garden Club here where I live and we worked for a couple hours this morning at our area butterfly gardens. There are 6 of them. So pretty.

I love my scrap booking, archiving photos and taking photos, videos and 8mm movies and transferring them into a DVD. My family really enjoys looking at pictures that way. I did a special one for my parents last year on the 50th wedding anniversary and the looks in their eyes as they watched it, was all I needed to see.

But I guess my favorite hobby is working on my computer!! I’m a certified geek from way back, when geekness wasn’t cool. Anything I can do on the computer, it will get done that way. I do all my scrap booking, photo editing, printing of my scrapbook pages and pictures, all our book work for our rentals, emails, my website and blog updates and of course, chatting with my friends from my computer that I built by myself. That was a project that I was very proud of and I know I will do it again in the future. I actually have 2 computers. One for everyday business and one for just my video editing.

Hobbies are fun and I can’t wait to read what everyone else loves to do!

Blog prompt: Favorite Music

Music has been a very big part of my life since I was born. Heck, my mom has movies of me dancing in front of the tv watching Dick Clark back in the late 50’s. I played in the band since the 6th grade and have some sort of music on everyday. I have a mp3 player that I use every time I walk and when I take long trips. Tons of CD’s and music on my computer to listen to while I work.

I do turn up the car radio too loud and sometimes forget to turn it down when I get out. And of course, when my husband and I get back into the car, its blaring. He swears he lives with a teenager. I love my music!!

My favorite group is Journey. Love, love, LOVE their music and Faithfully is my favorite song of all time. I could listen to their greatest every waking moment and Steve Perry will always have a voice that can never be reproduced.

I love country music, soft rock music, disco music, big band music, gospel music, and anything done by Elvis (Elvis is in a category all by himself). I love it all!! I don’t care for rap because its a bit distasteful to me.

My son has inherited my love for music and teaches music/band to children. He is working on his Masters as we speak and also works with a Junior Orchestra. He is one of those special people that can pick up an instrument and play it. While in college, he started violin lessons and now plays professionally!! Yes, he is my son and I must brag a bit.

Here are a few layouts I did about him -

He played the tuba in high school because the teacher needed one and so, he taught himself how to play. He went on to college as a tuba major, but changed mid stream as a violin major. The bottom picture is when he played for the ASU Marching Band. I have always loved marching bands. I was the Drum Major for our high school band back in the 70’s.

I am a HUGH fan of Dancing with the Stars and when I heard one of the Miami Dolphins present football players was going to be dancing, I just couldn’t believe it!! First of all, its Jason Taylor. One of the best defensive ends in the NFL is going to be dancing? There was no way I was going to miss this season for sure.

Boy was I amazed at his dancing abilities! The man can move and I think has a great chance of staying on the show for quite some time. Maybe Jason can bring home a trophy for the Fins!!

Another dancer I was really surprised at with her amazing dancing abilities at the age of 60, is Priscilla Presley!! She might not be able to move her facial muscles due to all the botox, but from the neck down, she has what it takes to dance!

I am going through menopause right now and some of the symptoms are really hard on me to deal with. I am constantly searching for a way to alleviate these symptoms, but I don’t like to take drugs. I would rather use alternative therapy products then synthetic drugs.

Here is something I find very interesting for my menopausal symptoms. I went to a website that has Magnetic Therapy Products and found that this product could help with symptoms such as:

Hot flushes,heart palpitations
Mood swings, anxiety, irritability
Weight gain,memory lapses
Loss of libido, painful intercourse
Fatigue, trouble sleeping, can’t concentrate

All which I pretty much have.

There is a great video to watch about the Lady Care product for menopause symptoms and how the magnetic therapy helps relieve them. I was amazed at the studies that showed how many women that the therapy helped. You can look at the results on the website. There is also an informational booklet you can download to read for more information.

There are products for many different ailments. Such as,swollen joint problems, sleep problems, lower back problems, indigestion and stomach problems. There are many other ailments that can be helped by magnetic therapy listed on their website. There are also products for your pets!!

So ladies, if the symptoms are getting to a point you need help, take a look at this product and let me know what you think. I know I am going to try it.

Blog Prompt: Favorite Food

I love generally all foods, but when it comes to wanting something really good, very fattening and something I don’t get very much is my favorite food. Pizza and cheeseburgers.

My favorite cheeseburger is the Angus $6.00 burger at Hardee’s without the mayo. I don’t like mayo. Give me mustard any day. Anyway, this is the best burger I have ever tasted. The meat is thick and juicy, melted cheese, onion, lettuce, pickle and tomato. And of course, there must be fries with it.

My next favorite thing is pizza. I love all kinds of pizza. I use to make my own crust at home with just veggies all the time. Then, the premade crusts came out and that works well too. When I do make my own, I like to use turkey pepperoni which is really good, but not greasy. I don’t really care for the pizza chains pizza. Too greasy. So, I usually make my own. That way, I can put all the cheese I want to on it.

Sam’s Club has a great 16 inch pizza for only $8.99. It has a fair amount of ingrediants and not too much sauce. The crust is great! You can also buy pizza dough there to make your own at home. When we go to Sam’s, I will order one already made and baked and take it home. Cheap and will last two dinners. Good with a salad.

Blog Prompt: various family shots and journaling about the pictures

This is the last picture taken of my family before my father passed away. We have a very small family. My parents, my brother and I, our spouses and 2 grandchildren and 1 step grandchild. The 2 grandchildren are 25 years apart. I believe one of the saddest days of my life, was when my last grandmother passed away. I was 42 years old and I wasn’t any ones grand daughter anymore.

That weekend of the picture was a special time. My son graduated from college and it was right before my parents 50th wedding anniversary. The picture was taken at a water mill in Southeast Missouri where I am from. Beautiful fall day, a little chilly, but beautiful.

“Education is the soul of a child”

Education in this day and age is one of the most important things, I think as adults, we can pass on to our children. Without an education, you just can’t better yourself. It saddens me to see young children graduate school with no education or ability to even read.

Let’s keep our children in school, help them with homework, read to a child daily and be better parents by showing up to your child’s school activities.
