Blog Prompt: What was your favorite Halloween costume? If you went to a party tomorrow, would you wear this costume to the party?

When my brother and I were younger, my mom made us Indian outfits.  I loved that outfit and I wish I had a picture of it.  But, we do have movies of us wearing them.  I remember they were made of really soft brown material and there was fringe!  It was so cool for a costume and my mom was good about making our stuff for Halloween.  I don’t even know if they had store bought costumes back in the 60’s.

So, when my son was little, I made most of his costumes too.  My favorite was his Bert costume from Sesame Street.  I loved that costume and it was pretty easy to make.  I wish I still had it.

I would also like to wish Juilette Gordon Low a Happy Birthday.  She was the lady who started Girl Scouts.  A group I was very active in for 12 years and is such a great organization.

I got to tour her home in Savannah, GA and what a thrill that was for me.

I love using coupons and there is a place online where you can sign up and receive great coupons for Zales coupons. Its almost Christmas and looking for great ideas.

ebates works with tons of stores that you purchase from. Such as such as Target.com (4% Cash Back), Walmart.com (1% Cash Back), Newegg (2% Cash Back).  You can work from the ebates website, find a store you want to purchase from and you receive cash for a percentage of your purchase.

I just did a purchase at TigerDirect and received 3% cash back on my total purchase! I love money in my pocket and everyone could use some today.  And I am planning on going back more.

Blog Prompt: Of the major events that have happened in your lifetime, what do you feel has had the most impact on you and how?

It was yesterday!!

My husband and I were helping a neighbor out by changing out the coach lights on her house. Always been an easy job in the past. Take off the old like, connect the wires, screw on the new light with existing screws. We’ve done it a thousand times in the past with all the houses we have worked on.

But no. Not this time. Who ever put on the lights before didn’t have a universal plate and for some reason, my husband was not figuring out the problem. After about an hour of trying to figure out what to do, I suggested that he take down the cap and put the new one flush on the wall. The screws were already there and should fit. He was adamant about it not working. So, he struggled and got the first one up on the wall.

We moved on to the next one and the neighbor came out and she chimed in and suggested the same procedure I did. Again, he gave us the look and went on to only have more trouble with the next light. He had the neighbor go to Home Depot for some supplies and we moved to another light, as I put on the new door bell hardware.

The longer we were working, I noticed he wasn’t having any trouble putting up that light and when I got done, I looked up at the wall and to my amazement……….HE PUT IT UP THE WAY WE (US GIRLS) SUGGESTED!!!!!!!! I think my eyeballs popped out of their sockets as I looked at him.

He hung his head and said,”You have no idea how bad this is going to hurt, but……..you were right!”

Then he had to tell the neighbor that she was right too.  It was bad enough to tell me, but to tell 2 females in one day that we were right. 

I wish I had a tape recorder for that statement.  It will be a day I will never forget and of course, I will have to use that now and again when my man thinks his way is the only way it will work.

Life is good, if you wait long enough.

I have a lanai here in Florida that had 8 foot windows all down one side. During the day I love for them to be open so I can watch my butterfly garden, but at night I want some kind of shade to pull down for privacy.

Since I do live in the tropics, I thought wooden blinds would be perfect for this area. I found a great place called Wooden Blinds Direct and they have high quality with great prices. The picture shows what I am looking at. And right now they are offering specials on certain blinds.

Blog Prompt: You find out you are highly allergic to something you love. Do you give it up (no matter how hard it is) or not (and deal with the consequences of the allergy)?

I guess it would depend on what I’m allergic to. If its the dog, well then I would have to figure out a way to control the allergies. I could never give up my dog. He is our family.

If its food, I wouldn’t have any problems with that.  Unlesssssss, its chocolate.   And then I would have to find some way to handle that situation for sure.

Are you looking for a great Asian vacation?  I know I would love to see parts of the world I haven’t been to before.  But, the way the economy is, I’m not finding any really good deals.  Until now.

I found Accor Hotels 3-Day Super Sale Asia Pacific which is the perfect deal for my family.  The rate for 3 days is extremely cheap and very affordable.  I noticed some of the rooms start at $30 per night.  I think the 3 days would be just enough time to have a great time and see part of the world.   I have to hurry, because it runs from Oct. 27 – 29th for these special prices.

The country list include Thailand, Korea, China, Japan, HK, Australia, Singapore, Vietnam, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Fiji, Indonesia, Taiwan, India, Bali.  That’s over a million hotel rooms with great prices to choose from.

Some of these hotels are just beautiful and are all part of the Accor Company.  The Sofitel, Pullman, Grand Mercure, Novotel, Mercure, All Seasons and Ibis hotels are all participating in these deals.

Just don’t sit by and let these great deals pass you by for a great mini vacation in beautiful hotels in far off country.  This might be the perfect time for you to enjoy a few days off.

Blog Prompt: Today is Ipod Day. Do you have an Ipod or mp3 player? If so, what kind of things do you have on it? If you have music, share what genre of music you like.

I’ve had a mp3 player for many years now. When the one I had would quit working, I would shop for another one. I do have a Shuffle ipod that I just love when I am riding my bike or walking the dog. I can download tons of songs on that little thing and it clips right to my shirt. Really small and so easy to use and carry around.

I purchased a Sansa mp3 player with a FM radio so he could listen to his talk shows and work in the yard. It will also hold pictures, videos and music.  As a matter of fact, I am charging up this player as I am typing my post today. That player has to be charged from the computer, where my ipod can be charged up by electrical outlet. That is the only thing I don’t like about the Sansa mp3 player. My computer shuts itself down when I don’t use it, so that means it doesn’t get a full charge. So, I will have to stay on the computer for a bit today to get a full charge for next week.

I use the Sansa mp3 player while we are at painting jobs. I can listen to the radio all day long for a couple of days on one charge. My ipod lasts a good long time on a charge.

Both of these mp3 players are a decent price.  The Sansa isn’t the newest version and you can get it at a good price.  I love to comparison shop.

I love to shop online and I love finding great deals too! I know all of you out there are trying to save as much money in this economy and I have found a great website where I can compare items I am looking for, add them to my wish list and I can also share this list with family and friends. Online Price Comparison is the best way to find those great deals. You know, for those gifts you always want.

Shop.com is perfect for my shopping. I am looking for a new digital camera and I love how they compare all the different types of cameras. I can search by how much I want to pay, what kind of camera or brand. Price Comparison is very important to me, especially when I know how much I want to spend. They also have tons of reviews on all the different cameras for me to read. I depend a lot on what other consumers like about a product.

I am also looking at items for Christmas gifts.  My nephew loves sports and I think he would love one of the Nba comforters they have to offer.  Thats one gift checked off of my list.  I’m sure I will find more and I love the idea of not having to stand in lines and let the post office bring the gifts to me.
