Trashy People?

Blog Prompt: What would people think if they went through your garbage?

That we use a lot of toilet paper and drink a lot of tea.

We have an interesting deal with trash around here.  We have the blue box for recyclables, I have a little trash can for doggie poop that I pick up, we have a trash can for landscaping items and we have our regular trash can in the house for the rest.

Our regular trash is picked up around here on Mondays and Thursdays.  So the doggie poop bag, regular trash bags and the blue box go out then.  Two different trucks come buy for different trash. Absolutely no grass or yard waste is allowed on these days and believe me, if they think there is anything like that in your bags, they will rip it open and leave it on your drive way to clean up.

Wednesdays is ONLY landscaping trash day and these guys are very picky about how you collect your landscape cuttings.  No grass clippings are allowed.  If we ever have any grass to throw away, it has to go to a special dump down the road.  Florida law.  If you have any tree limbs or palm limbs that have not been cut up and bagged, you have have to tie them up in a bundle or the trash guys will yell at you.  They haven’t yelled at us, but I have seen them do it neighbors.  It ain’t a pretty site.

Don’t get me wrong.  These guys are doing their job and I don’t blame them for getting upset.  They are nice people and always wave and say hi when I pass them when I am walking.  Maybe its because I am walking with a big dog.

Southern California Property Search

The economy is making a slow come back and right now is the perfect time to buy cheap real estate. There are so many foreclosures out there right now and not only does this help the home owner but it also helps the bank. It’s a win/win situation for everyone. These properties make great starter homes or a fixer up property to rent or sale. If you are a first time home owner, you can use the $8000 credit right now for your first purchase.

Do you live in Southern California or planning on moving there in the future and where do I find great Los Angeles Rental Property in that area?   LALiving.com is the perfect website to find homes for sale, condos, foreclosures, apartments and rentals to choose from.   One of the best listing sites I’ve seen in a long time. All you do is put the name of the city, how much you want to spend and bedrooms. So easy and very user friendly!!

I have a friend who lives in California and I looked up Torrance Foreclosures in her area.   I was impressed with all the information and pictures of each property to help you find that perfect property. This is the best website to find your next home at a great price.  And remember there is the $8000 tax credit out there, if you qualify.

A Trip to Australia Someday

Blog Prompt: Today is Australia Day. Have you been to Australia? Do you live in Australia? If so, tell us why you went there or live there. If not, tell why you would or would not want to go there.

I would love to go to Australia because I have never been there and I heard so many great stories about it from my former boss. He told me out of all the trips he has been on, and he has been around the world, Australia was his favorite.

To me, it would be the best place to go to when its winter time here because its summertime there. But, my only fears there are the fact they have the 3 deadliest snakes and spiders found on this great big planet we live on. And the sharks at the beach!!!! UGH!!!

But one of the girls I CT for lives there and she is such a nice woman and I would love to be able to meet my friend from down under and she could show us around her lovely country. The scenery is beautiful there and I loveeeeee their accent.

Maybe someday I will be able to visit there.

I have another week of my 365 project made with the newest items from Weeds & Wildflowers.

2010 Homebuyer Tax Credits

Are you looking to purchase a new home or are you ready to move?   Buying First Home tax credits are available until April 30th of this year.

Here are a few requirements:

Refundable: The credit is refundable, meaning tax filers see a refund of the full $8,000 even if their total tax bill – the amount of withholding they paid during the year- was less than that amount.

Purchase Date: To qualify for the credit, the purchase must be made by April 30, 2010. Buyers may not have owned a primary home (lived in it) for the past three years to qualify as “first time” buyer. They must also live in the house as their primary residence  for at least three years, or they will be obligated to pay back the credit.  Homeowners who have lived in a current home consecutively for 5 of the past 8 years can receive up to a $6,500 tax credit

Paperwork: Applying for the credit will be easy – or at least as easy as doing your income taxes. Just claim it on your return. No other forms or papers have to be filed. Taxpayers who have already completed their returns can file amended returns for 2008 to claim the credit.

Income Restrictions: To qualify, buyers must make less than $125,000 for singles or $225,000 for couples. (Higher-income buyers may receive a partial credit.)

The legislation also includes language to help members of the military take advantage of the credit including a later deadline and the ability to sell their home without having to repay the credit if they are deployed to another location within three years of purchasing the home.

Here is a quick video to help explain more:

Cheese Anyone?

Blog Prompt: Today is Cheese Day. What is your favorite cheese and why?

Wow!! I love cheese and this is such a bad thing with heart disease runs in my family. I buy 2% fat cheese, which makes me think I am doing a little bit better for myself.

I love cheese on everything. Burgers, eggs, salads, chips, casseroles, etc. I love the taste of cheddar, monterey jack and mozzarella.

I say love is like cheese.  It ripens with time.  But left alone, it hardens and dries out.
