Project 365 – August 9-15

August is in full swing with high humidity and heat!!  But, we did finally have some great rain, which our yard really needed.  Its been kind of dry this rainy season.

I replanted my pot on the front porch and I hope these items will grow.  For some reason, that pot seems to doom anything I plant in it.  Numerous mushrooms grow in our yard  and I love the sky at night here in Central Florida.

I used Sweet and Simple Kit #8 for this layout, along with templates.  You can find them here.

Everyone have a great day,

Wool Products I Can Live With

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Rambler’s Way Farm. All opinions are 100% mine.

Even though I live in Florida, there are days when I need to pull out my sweaters and sweatshirts.

Recently, someone asked me if I was given $200.00 to go shopping at Ramblers Way, what would I buy?

My first question was, I haven't heard of Ramblers way and I had to check it out.

After looking it up on the Internet, I realized they sold items made of wool.  Wool?  In Florida?  I would never have any need for a heavy wool sweater in Florida.  All I could think about was itchy, heavy and hot and that was not for me.

But then I kept reading about their products and I learned these items are not what I imagined.  This wool is superfine worsted Rambouillet wool, which can be warm or cool, is fully washable and won't shrink (the wool sweaters I own you have to send to the cleaners) and is so soft against the skin which can be worn day or night.

I had never heard of soft, washable and very thin wool shirts and thought these would be perfect for the cold mornings when I love to take my walks and ride my bike.  I would for sure own a long sleeve shirt, pictured, and I love the camisole they offer.  That would be so comfy under shirts for that little bit of warmth I need during the winters here in Central Florida.  They also carry briefs and items for men.

Reading further about Ramblers Way, you find out this is a family owned business, which I love to hear about.  They raise their own sheep to meet customer standards for superfine softness and sustainable farming practices and made in America.  Customer satisfaction is so important to me.

Lets Do the Reuse Challenge

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Aladdin. All opinions are 100% mine.

Are you wondering what the “Do the Reuse Challenge” is all about?  Its “you” making a commitment to give up disposable paper cups, water bottles, or food containers for 30 days.  Think you can do it?  Everyone is welcome to the challenge and 9 families are going to blog about their 30 day adventure.

For quite some time our family has been using reusable water bottles and coffee mugs when we go on our jobs.  Bring them home, throw them in the dishwasher and they are ready for the next day.  But, I just recently found out that Aladdin makes some really neat and nice looking reusable items.

Oh, you say you don’t have any Aladdin products.  Just click on the link and you can see all that they have and receive discounts on their products if you Do The Reuse Challenge.

Did you know that:

Seven million barrels of oil are used to produce the disposable bottles Americans go through in one year.

In the United States, 50 billion disposable water bottles are consumed per year; 137,000 per day; 1,585 per second.

It costs about $165 a year to make drip coffee at home versus $636 to buy drip coffee at your local cafe?.

Unless we change our habits, 23 billion paper coffee cups will be thrown out in 2010.

Nine dollars will generally cover a decent lunch out. If you buy rather than pack a lunch five days a week, you shell out about $2,350 a year.

I don’t have money to waste on disposable items and much prefer to have something I can use daily.  So, take the challenge for 30 days and see how easy it is to “reuse” your everyday bottles and cups.

You can also follow Aladdin on Facebook.

Project 365 – August 1 – 8

Hot and August go together here in Florida and it sure has been a hot one for sure.

The week was a busy one getting ready for our churches Summer Splash.  A project they do to help out the neighborhood children prepare for school.  I had so many wonderful pages that I had to make this layout 2 pages long.

I used Weeds and Wildflowers Sweet and Simple #8 and templates.

I hope everyone has a great and cool week,

Home Improvements

Glenn and I are always making changes to our home.  Either to repair  an item or completely changing a room around.  We do a lot on the outside of our home too.  Next project there will be paint the house.

Our next big project indoors is to paint the office, pull out the old carpet and lay down hardwood.  That is going to be a big job.  The biggest being moving 2 walls of bookshelves and computer desks.  That won’t be fun at all.  But I know in the long run, the work, sweat and back pain will all be worth it.

But, one thing that has been holding us back is making sure we are getting the best prices for the products we buy and right now Home Depot is helping out with that.  They are offering some great Home Depot coupon codes to put an ease on your money.

There are so many coupons to have at Savings.com for Home Depot. Appliances, lighting, select patio furniture (one I am going to check out), items for your bath and many more.

Now is the time to do those home repairs while the air is getting a wee bit cooler and preparing for winter with all the different coupons available for Home Depot.
