Armed Forces Day
Blog Prompt – This weekend is Armed Forces today. This holiday is celebrated by many countries and I would love to hear about someone you know who you admire in the Armed Forces.
I can’t describe in words how much it means to see someone in uniform and the sacrifices they are giving to our country.
I was raised the first part of my life as a Navy baby. My father retired from the Navy after 20 years and my brother is still serving in the National Guard. He will soon retire from it after 20 years.
My husband spent a few years in the Air Force as did his father during WWII in the Army. He had 6 members of his family in the same war and they all returned home safely.
My hat goes off to each and every one of you and I thank God everyday for you and what you are doing for our country.
I have a few layouts I have done over the years to show my appreciation of family members I would like to share with you.

My husbands father, my brother, my father and my husband.

A layout I did for my brother with a poem my husband wrote to him while he was deployed to Iraq. His son was born while he was gone and my husband wrote the poem from my nephew’s point of view.

A picture of the six family members that all fought during WWII and who all came back safely. These are all members of my husbands family and I have only met a couple of them.

My father before he was my dad back in the early 50′s on his ship on one of his deployments. His work room was also where he would bed down.

Have a great weekend and hug a soldier,

One of the teachers I used to teach with has a son who is the same age as my oldest daughter. We always have a Veteran’s Day program at our school and it’s open to K-12 students as well as the community. I remember my daughter being amazed and then very impressed that her friend’s dad had served during Desert Storm.
I currently have a lot of my former students serving in the Armed Forces. And while I’m so thankful for their sacrifices, it breaks my heart too, because they really are still just babies, in a sense, and that’s a lot to have to deal with when you are 18 or 20.
your pages are wonderful and I really love your blog outfit
Love those layouts, Tammy and I’m with you on saluting every person who has or does wear the military uniform.. we can’t thank them enough.
Wonderful layouts. There is no way we can ever thank those who are out there protecting us and our freedoms. But saying thank you is a start. Great prompt.
