Yesterday or Tomorrow?

Blog prompt: If you had to choose between yesterday and tomorrow, which would you pick and why?

I surely don’t want to go to the future. Knowing the future would drive me crazy. I want to be surprised.

I would like to go back to yesterday though. I could’ve used my time better yesterday, but I was lazy and took a teeny little nap while it rained.

I would never change the past though. Because the past forms my future. Are there things I regret or feel bad about. Of course, but I learned from my mistakes, put them behind me and move on to a better future

And God Agreed…

Blog Prompt: Today is Anything Goes Day. Tell me anything!!

On the first day, God created the dog and said, “Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years.”

The dog said, “That’s a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I’ll give you back the other ten?”

So God agreed……

On the second day, God created the monkey and said, “Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I’ll give you a twenty-year life span.”

The monkey said, “Monkey tricks for twenty years? That’s a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the dog did?”

And God agreed……

On the third day, God created the cow and said, “You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer’s family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years.”

The cow said, “That’s kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I’ll give back the other forty?”

And God agreed again……

On the fourth day, God created humans and said, “Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I’ll give you twenty years.”

But the human said, “Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?”

“Okay,” said God. “You asked for it.”

So that is why for our first twenty years, we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years, we slave in the sun to support our family.. For the next ten years, we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren. And for the last ten years, we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.

Life has now been explained to you.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information. I’m doing it as a public service.

Coffee Filter and Creative Team Challenge

Blog Prompt – Is there something in your home that you use for something other than what you are suppose to use it for?

I have been using Coffee Filters for a few odd ball jobs in the past and then I read where you can use them in many other ways.

Coffee filters ..who knew! And you can buy 1,000 at the  Dollar Tree for almost nothing.

1. Cover bowls or dishes when cooking in the microwave. Coffee filters make excellent covers.

2. Clean windows and mirrors. Coffee filters are lint-free so they’ll
leave windows sparkling.

3. Protect China – Separate your good dishes by putting a coffee filter between each dish.

4. Filter broken cork from wine. If you break the cork when opening a wine bottle, filter the wine through a coffee filter.

5. Protect a cast-iron skillet. Place a coffee filter in the skillet to absorb moisture and prevent rust.

6. Apply shoe polish. Ball up a lint-free coffee filter.

7. Recycle frying oil. After frying, strain oil through a sieve lined with a coffee filter.

8. Weigh chopped foods. Place chopped ingredients in a coffee filter on a kitchen scale.

9. Hold tacos. Coffee filters make convenient wrappers for messy foods.

10. Stop the soil from leaking out of a plant pot. Line a plant pot with a coffee filter to prevent the soil from going through the drainage holes.

11. Prevent a Popsicle from dripping. Poke one or two holes as needed in a coffee filter.

12. Do you think we used expensive strips to wax eyebrows? Use strips of coffee filters.

13. Put a few in a plate and put your fried bacon, French fries, chicken fingers, etc on them. Soaks out all the grease.

14. Keep in the bathroom. They make great “razor nick fixers.”

I will have coffee filters all over the house now.

The Mutt or the Pure Bred?

Blog Prompt: Today is Mutt’s Day. Do you prefer a mutt or a purebred animal? Why?

I love all dogs, whether they are mutts or pure bred.  As most of you guys know, I have always owned boxers.  They are great family dogs and make great companions.  Duke, Barkley, Mia and now Ernest T. Bass have all been wonderful dogs.

I’m so glad we rescued Ernest and I wish more people would do that.  There are so many dogs out there that are pure bred that need to be rescued.  It breaks my heart to go the website where we got Ernest from and see all the boxers that need foster homes.  My husband has an old class mate that is pleading on Facebook right now for someone to foster her 2 dogs.  One is an American Bulldog and the other is a smaller dog.  She lives in the Jacksonville area and I hope someone can help her soon.

I have always heard that “mutts” are dogs that don’t seem to get sick as often or get the strange ailments that pure bred do.  All I know is that it seems the small pure bred dogs seem to be at the vets all the time.  All my boxers have died from cancer and Ernest is already showing signs of small tumors on his skin.

Let me tell you Ernest’s latest health weird thing he is going through.  He has always ate all his dog food for the day in the morning.  He is a very good eater and at night he will get a couple of treats before bed.  For quite sometime now, late in the day, he acts like he is going to get sick, but never does.  The vet says just to give him Pepcid AC.  It seemed to work for awhile, but then the trowing ups started again.

I did a search on Google and found a Boxer forum.  I told Ernest’s sad story and every person that came on there told me that he has the “Huger Pukes”.  And the cure is to divide his food in half, morning and night and add some yogurt to one of the meals.

I told my husband this and he was like me.  What the hell are Hunger Pukes?  Well, I am so glad to report that since we have been following that regiment, he has been fine.  No more hunger pukes!!!!!  Can you believe it?  A simple cure for his problem.

As long as Ernest is happy, then we are happy.  Ain’t he cute!

Walk on the Moon, Contest and Layout

Blog Prompt: Today is Moon Day. Would you want to walk on the moon and why or why not?

Wow!!  Thats an interesting question.  I have always been in awe of how our space missions are run and love to watch the shuttle blast off here in Florida.  But, it takes such a special person to want to do that and I don’t think I have what it takes to ever do anything in space.

My husband and I recently talked to an astronaut at Kennedy Space Center and to hear him talk about all the times he has been sent into space just floored me.  You could tell his job was the highlight of his life and he is 72 years old and still wants to go back into space.

But to answer the blog question, No.  I don’t think I would enjoy walking on the moon.

Battle of the Creative Teams

Digiscrap Addicts is having an exciting competition that started on Wednesday. Its the Battle of the Creative Teams and its a great challenge. Let me tell you about it.

A whole bunch of designers signed up to battle it out with 5 of their Creative Team Members and each week a new challenge is posted and the CT have to come up with layouts we have five days to produce a gorgeous layout that corresponds with the challenge for that week. I am on Cara Mia Designz team and I know its going to be a blast.

This weeks assignment is White Space, which isn’t one of my favorite ways to scrap. But thats what I like about challenges. It will force me to learn a new thing. The layouts also have to have common theme, colors and titles. So it just makes it even harder to figure out how 5 women are going to agree on something. hehehe

Head on over to DigiscrapAddicts and visit “The Grand Stand” and check out all the excitement and fun. Be sure to have a look in the Round 1 Designers thread and look for Cara Mia Designz.  You can find our layouts here.

Voting will start on Mondays and end on Tuesdays at 11:59 PM EST.   The public is voting.   Each person is allowed one vote per week per category. The score is cumulative week to week and the team with the most points after all four weeks wins.

Here is my layout for the first week.
