Peanuts Comic Favs and Layout

Blog prompt: Peanuts comic strip debuted in seven newspapers, October 2, 1950. Who is your favorite Peanuts character and why?

Well Snoopy of course!!  He lived the best life on that show. He was so cool, sneaky and had the best laugh ever.  He was always in the background watching what was going on and when he needed to make a statement, he did!!  I loved how he tormented Lucy the best just to get her back for all the things she did the Charlie Brown.  But then when it came to Woodstock, Snoopy was the big brother he never had.  I always loved how they talked to each other.

Here are a couple of little videos with Snoopy at his best.

One More Day and Layouts

What I would do if I had only one more day…

I know I have thought about this before and I wondered if others did too.  I wondered what I would like to have as my last meal, if I only had a few months to live, what would I like to do and I always come back with the same answer.  I would want to spend my last moments on this earth surrounded by the people I love.

I think often of the day my father passed away and that my mom and I were by his side.  We were fussing over him, making sure he was comfy and if the truth be known it was probably pissing him off!!  He hated to be fussed over and always thought he didn’t need any help.  Anyway, right before he closed his eyes for the last time, he looked over at me, turned his head and looked at my mom for a very long time.  We told him my brother was on his way and would be here any minute and then he closed his eyes.  He was happy and content that his family was around him.  That is very comforting to me knowing that he didn’t spend his last minutes in a hospital and was home with us.

Easier Life and Layout

Blog Prompt: This week is Simplify Your Life Week. What are some ways that you could simplify your life?

I have a pretty simple life right now anyway.  Retired, well kind of, and enjoying life in Florida with my husband.

The only thing I could think of is if someone would truly clean my house for me.  I hate housework, especially vacuuming the floor.  I HATE dragging that canister all over the house.  It’s a very good vacuum and I have been using that brand for over 30 years now, but as I have aged, its getting harder and harder to deal with it.  I need a good ol’ push vacuum.  That would make my life so much more enjoyable.

I just can’t stop using items from Clever Crow Design’s.  I can use her kits and elements in virtually everything that I do now.  I love her stuff.

If any of you are in West Central Florida, you must go and see the Homosassa State Park.  That is where the manitee’s live all year round and you can see many other Florida native animals.  It’s a really nice park and the whole family will enjoy it.

Chocolate – Yea or Nay!

Light-hearted or serious, take a “controversial” issue and argue your point of view. Extra points if you argue both sides!

I could get on my soapbox about a lot of issues today, but I think I will talk about “Chocolate.”  I did a little research and this is what I came up with.

Should I or shouldn’t I eat chocolate?  Lets look at both sides of chocolate.

Cons - Fattening, too much sugar, not much on nutritional value as a candy bar and melts in your hand, toxic to animals, very addictive.

Pros – Cocoa or dark chocolate benefits the circulatory system, Other beneficial effects suggested include anticancer, brain stimulator, cough preventor and antidiarrhoeal effects, may stimulate the hypothalamus, inducing pleasurable sensations as well as affecting the levels of serotonin, an aphrodisiac, tastes great!

So, the conclusion I have come up with is how can anyone not find anything good about chocolate.  And by the way, I wouldn’t give my good chocolate to my dog anyway!!  I would choose dark chocolate over mild chocolate any day and it seems there are more benefits from the darker version.  And the idea that it might help my circulatory system, stimulate my brain a bit and causes me not to have diarrhea and the best part, could help me enjoy a nice night with my hubby!!

I conclude there is not darn thing wrong with CHOCOLATE and I must have it!!!

Let me know what you like or dislike about chocolate.

UFO and Aliens

Today is World UFO Day. How do you feel about that?

I love the idea that there might be “others” out there watching us as I type this post.  I guess that’s why I love sci-fi movies so much.

Every time I look at the stars at night, I always wonder if someone or something is watching us down here on earth and if they will come and visit someday.

There has been too many sitings over the years not to believe.  Do you believe?

I am going to touch quickly on a subject that really bothers me alot and that our nation needs to work on.  I know our gas problem is on everyone’s mind, but what about all the money we are paying for illegal’s in this country.  The money that our hard working tax payers are giving them is too much to even think about.  We are spending over $338.3 BILLION on them a year.

Please take a look at the video below and this is just one case of what I am talking about.

Clever Crow Designs has come out with another great kit and just in time for all those great pictures you will take on the 4th.  The kit is called Liberty and you can find it here.

The picture in this layout is of family members of my husbands who all served in WWII together.  All of them came back home to their families.  What a great service they did for their country!

Let’s remember all our fallen heros and all those serving our coutry today this 4th of July.

What makes you cry?

Let’s start this week’s diary entries with: What makes you cry.

The day my son graduated from high school was such a sad day for me.  My son was all grown up and in a couple of months, he would be going to college and leaving the nest.

I cried all through the ceremony and you can see that in the picture.  I just knew the day we took him to college and left him there I was going to cry the whole time.  But, no!  I saw how happy he was and that he was going to have a great time there and I was fine.

During the 1st year he was gone, I would have my crying spells.  Missing him terribly.  And then he came home for summer time.  I was soooooo happy!!  My baby was going to be home!!

He was home for about 2 weeks and I asked him, “Son!  When does school start back up?”  He was driving me nuts.  I was in a routine of just having 2 people in the house and then he came home, threw his stuff every where and well, mom’s, you know what he was doing to his room and every where else.

He came home for 2 summers during college and then ended up staying at school, working and living in an apartment.  Even though he has been gone now over 10 years, I miss him and love seeing him when we can get together.  But, I know one thing for sure.  He ain’t coming home to live again!!!!!!!!
