Really Old and Layout

Blog Prompt: Today is Old Rock Day. What is the oldest thing that you have? Please describe it.

Let’s see.  It’s the most very special thing in the whole wide world and I love on it every chance I can get.  Even after all those years I still have to care for it, make sure its clean and well cared for.  I love to take it for a ride now and again, just to get some fresh air.   It is defiantly showing its years and not a smooth and shiny as it use to be, but I still love it dearly.  It’s pipes aren’t working as well as when it was younger, but still getting the job done.

I don’t know what I would do without my antique friend and I hope it hangs around for many more years.

Have you figured out what I am talking about yet?  I will let you know later on down in my post.

But first I need to take care of a little bit of scrapbook business.

Clever Crow Design Studio is have a great sale right now and some wonderful new items to choose from.  A new kit called Altered Yuletide is great for your Christmas pictures you may have.  You can find it here.

I’m Weird and Layout

Blog Prompt: Sometimes it is our little nicks, dents, and imperfections – that make us able to relate to other people. How have you seen evidence of this in your own life?

This is such a great prompt for me.  Let me get my list out.

1. Nerd
2. Geek
3. Wears Thick Glasses
4. Little Pudgy
5. Redneck

ugh!  After seeing the list, I am weird!!  Can you imagine being this way in High School?  I was a geeky, never got in trouble, chubby, glass wearing, Redneck!  I still have close friends that said I was such a nerd in High School.  But, being a nerd and geek is pretty cool now.  That only took 30 years!

Yea, I was picked on, but I think living through all that just made me understand how people work.  I consider myself a very good judge of character and when I realize pretty quick that a new person in my life is not someone I want to hang with, I’m outta there.

I’ve certainly learned how to laugh at myself and have fun.  I think that is the Redneck coming out of me.  Life is too short to take things so seriously that it disrupts my life.

Healthy Children, Freebies and Blog Challenge

Blog prompt: Today is National Child [Youth] Health Awareness Day. Tell us about a childhood illness that you had.

I wasn’t a sick child at all, BUT, I was accident prone. Heck, I didn’t even have chicken pox until I was a freshman in high school and had my tonsils out when I was 19 years old.  Not fun!!!!!!

I fell an cracked my collar bone, I ran my foot through bike spokes and got blood poising, ran my arm through a ringer washer and dropped an iron on my arm.  And I have all the scares to remind me of my life as a child.  :)   The picture to the right shows me with my foot all wrapped up from the bike accident.

Now my brother was another story.  He had a heart murmur, asthma and terrible allergies.  Always sick or going to the hospital.   And through all our accidents and illnesses, we are both healthy today!

Greatest Speaker and Layout

Blog Prompt: Today is Professional Speaker’s Day. If you were in charge of a meeting, who would you invite to be the speaker and why?

I don’t know why I was raking my brain about this and there are a lot of people I would love to hear speak and keep my attention.  But, there is really only one choice in my book as a speaker.  My husband, Glenn.

He has this great southern accent, gentle voice and great sense of humor that is very contagious and I love hearing him speak.  His values and knowledge of life would be great to pass on in a speech to his grandchildren or to a class of children.  I could see him reading them books, reciting about bible verses or just talking about how they can grow up to be great Americans and fulfill their dreams!  He especially loves to show off his fireman’s stuff to children.

Can you tell my husband is my hero!!

Miss Crow’s Designs has come out with another great kit called Bohemian August.  Beautiful colors of orange and purples with beaded accent elements.  Beautiful kit to check out.

My dog makes the greatest subject for some of my layouts and he will always pose for me.  He hates it, but then he gets a treat in the end.

Ad’s

How do you feel about advertising? Favorite ads? Ads you can’t stand?

I don’t really like how ad’s portray life and how easy, fast and you gotta have it right now it is. Life isn’t easy by no means and there isn’t a product out there that is going to make your life any better.

I especially hate what its doing to our young people and how it makes them feel about themselves. Not pretty enough or good enough. Or all the electronic products you must have to make your life easier. Put that stuff down children and start talking face to face to your parents and the world around you!! Pick up a book and read!!!!

Ok, now to the lighter side of ad’s. You have to admit, there are some great commercials out there. I love the Bud Light/dalmatian commercials. Well, I am a sucker for any commercial with animals and children. The Hallmark and Publix commercials are great and really sweet!! I love the PC and Mac commercials running now. There are tons of Super Bowl commercials I love, but I guess my all time favorites are the Norelco Santa and Clap on, Clap off commercials that use to run at Christmas. I miss those.

Here is the Norelco commercial for those who don’t remember. Its not the best quality, but you get the jiff. Enjoy!!

Another great one!!

Mail??

You’ve got mail… (snail mail, email, you decide?

When I was a young girl, there was nothing better than getting a letter in the mail from my pen pal. I still have all those letters she sent me from Japan.

While my husband and I were dating, he use to send me loads of cards in the mail and oh how that made my heart feel when I would get one. To know that he took the time to write out a few words of love on a card just for me was more than any woman could ask for.

We had a discussion one day on how many times we said, “I love you” to each other and wondered who said it the most. Well, he proved it to me one day by sending me a card with “I love you” wrote all over the the front, back and inside of this very large card in little bitty letters. I still wonder to this day how long it took him to to this and I still have all the cards he has ever given to me in a special little box.

But back to the question at hand. I still love getting letters and cards in the mail and I am always the one to go out and get the mail everyday, hoping there is something there just for me. But, I have to admit, email is the thing for me. It’s too easy, too fast and too convenient not to use.
