My High School Friends

Did you have a lot of friends in high school or just one or two very close friends? What did you and your friends do for fun? Are you still in contact with any of them?

I guess I had a lot of friends in high school due to Girl Scouts. The same bunch always hung around. But, my closest friend was a twin and we did most stuff together. I guess you can say we had been friends since 3rd grade. We were in scouts together, band together, a lot of our classes were together, our moms were our leaders our Senior year and hung out together and my mom fixed my friends mom’s hair until the day she moved to Florida. If I wasn’t over at their house, they were over at mine. Many sleep overs, riding around the big block, many trips, doing things we weren’t suppose to and basically just having a good time as kids.

But, as time went by after graduation, we grew further and further apart. I have seen her and her twin sister a few times since then, but we are so far apart in distance now that things are not the same and I hate that.  We know stay in touch on Facebook.   The picture above is our last day in scouts before we graduated from high school.

Just a few months ago, her mother passed away and I wasn’t able to attend the funeral, but my heart ached so badly for the family. Another part of my life was gone.

Everyone have a great weekend and call a long lost friend today,

Friends For Life

Blog Prompt – What is a best friend? Now and when you were in school.

I had wonderful friends in school since I came back to the states in the 3rd grade.  After we graduated and our lives separated, we recently were reunited on Facebook.  I love it now that we can keep in touch.
may 020 Kathy and Kim  have been my best friends for years now and I hate that we don’t live in the same area anymore. I’ve been gone now for 7 years now and even though we chat online during the week and speak on the phone now and again, my heart hasn’t been the same.

I had a really hard time when Kathy told me she had a pap smear came back bad and that she was going to have to have a complete hysterectomy. They were also going to look for other problems once they got in there, but luckily all tests came back clear and she is fine. It was very hard for me to be here and she was there not knowing if she had cancer or not. Very Hard!!

Kim received wonderful news about her son passing is law boards and I hate that I had to hear via email.  I know we all would’ve went out to celebrate he is finally threw with school and all his accomplishments.

I do get to see them maybe once a year when I go back to Missouri for a visit now and again.  The picture above was taken at our favorite place, the bowling alley, the last time I was up there for a visit.

I wish we could get together more often. We always have a great time together and they sure do make me laugh. I loved eating lunch with Kathy during the week, griping about who knows, enjoying a drink on Friday night after work and she was my favorite bowing partner. She was the sister I never had.

We will always be friends for life. Even if it is long distance.

Have a great weekend with a friend,

My BFF

friendsBlog Prompt – Friendships. How close are you and how much fun do you have?

I am chatting with her online line at this very moment and I am telling her that I am blogging about her.   She laughed and wanted to know if I didn’t have anything else better to write about.  We talked about the Mizzou game last night and then I helped her search for her favorite perfume.  I can’t ever get her to use Google to find things.

We will always be friends for life.  Even if it is long distance.

Working on a Project

Blog Prompt – Describe a special project you may be working on right now.

Right now I am helping out with our community play called The Cemetery Club.  Its a great play about 3 widows who visit their husbands every month at the cemetery and along comes a widower and life changes for the 3 dear friends.

What I love about this play, is that its so geared to our 55+ community and is really funny.  If you have seen the movie, it doesn’t do the play justice.

My job in the play is the Stage Manager.  The director lives across the street from me and asked if I would help.  I agreed, as long as I stayed behind the scenes.  An actor, I am not! *LOL*.

The schedule is rather grueling.  Practice is constantly going on and now we are at the point of getting the set ready.  The hard part is that we can only have the set completely up for a couple days before the actual play.  There are other clubs that use the stage and they have a hard time giving up some of their time to us.  Thats a 55+ community for ya.

After the play is over and I have tons of great pictures, I will share them with you guys.  I am wanting to make one of those photo books for the director to give to her after the play.  She’s a great director and a great friend.

Have a great weekend,

Dear Friends

Your friendships and what they mean to you

I have had many friends over my years on this world, but my dearest friend is a friend everyone needs to have. I guess over the years I have looked for friends that don’t bring me down to a level that is not true to my heart and that their loyalty to me and my loyalty to them be a very important part of our friendship and she is all that. The saying, “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” My friends better hold her tongue till their last day on this earth!! We can say what needs to be said to each other and listen when its time to listen. Laughter is also very important to us and this is a quality that never stops. If she needs help I am there and same goes for me.

When it came time for me to leave our home town and move to Georgia to marry, I wasn’t worried about telling my parents I was leaving, I was worried about telling my friends. Especially my dearest friend, Miss K. That was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life!!

Yard Sale, School BowSale, Friends Layout

Blog Prompt: Aug. 9th was National Garage Sale Day. What item in your home would you just love to get rid of and why?

Actually, there isn’t anything right now in my house that I would like to sell in a Yard Sale because we just moved.  But, when my husband and I were getting ready to move to Florida, for 3 months we had a yard sale every weekend.  We sold almost every thing we wanted to get rid of and a lot of our furniture went too.  Only had a small pile on the garbage truck at the end.

We had 2 hugh portriats of Scarlet O’Hara and Rhett Butler from my husbands house in the sale and this little boy came by and was studing those pictures really hard.  Finally he said, “How much for The Adams Family pictures.”  My husband, the little boys mom and I just roared with laughter.  I told the little boy, “We need to talk.”  It was funny and sad that I’m sure the younger generation will never know how important Gone With The Wind is in Georgia.

It’s almost time for school to start and Personalized Creations is having a great sale the month of August on school bows.

Korkers, double layer bows, loopy bows and monogrammed cheer bows to wear when school starts.  There are also basic bows to match that special school outfit.

Be sure to check it out today.

Friends Forever

My husband and his friend worked together at the fire department for 17 years on the same shift.  When my husband only had a few more months left until he retired, they were separated.  It was a sad day for both of them and I know they miss each other a lot.  But, now and again, his friend will call and sing us one of his “famous” made up songs or tell us a funny story about the fire department.  It’s hard to say goodbye to a friend.

I used April Staker’s Almost Forks kit and the word art was a freebie and it doesn’t show who made it.  I used a white background this time.  Something I don’t do often.
