Weird Things

What’s the strangest, scariest or weirdest thing you’ve ever seen in person?

What a great prompt today by Glynis.  Those girls really do love to pick our brains.

So, I sat and thought about this one very hard and then it hit me what I could blog about.

I have talked about my friends back in Missouri who I bowled with for years and every year, we made a trip to Indiana to bowl in a tournament.  I did that for 24 years.  Wonderful and great time with my friends.

Anyway, we would leave on Thursday afternoon, even though we didn’t bowl until Saturday.  Thursday night and Friday was our day to be lazy, didn’t have to worry about work, kids or husbands.  The only thing we worried about was where the next cocktail came from and where we were going to eat and not worry about putting street clothes on all day Friday.

One Friday night we had gone down to the hotel lounge to enjoy the evening and people watch.  It was late and yes, we had had a few cocktails, and my friend Kathy says, “I can make my toes do weird things.”  We all looked at each other and thought she had had way too much to drink, so we told her to show us.  I mean, just how much can a person do with her toes.

She took off her shoes, threw her foot up on the table, and I’m tellin ya, I have never in my life seen toes on a foot do what she did with them.  Every toe was going in a different direction!  When we saw that, we all just lost it at once and at the same time, the waiter came by and I’m not sure the boy has ever been the same since.  That was a site that no one would ever forget and I wish I had a picture of it to show all.

And to this day, she will never let us forget that she can make her toes do that and reminds us now and again with a show of her toes.  My friend.  You gotta love her.

Perfect Summer Day and A Movie

Describe your perfect summer day.

I love summer time because of the warm weather, the food you eat and all those great holidays to get together.

My perfect summer day would be with my husband on one of our day trips here in Florida.  Since the weather here is warm most of the year, we have plenty of days to choose from when to take trips.   We love to drive, find a new area we haven’t seen, look for that perfect restaurant to enjoy a meal and be home by dark!!  Life couldn’t be any better.

The other day we took a day trip to Homosassa State Park.  The main attraction at this park is the manatees.  They are there year around and what a site they are to behold.  They are wonderful to watch and enjoy.  They are hand feed daily, so tourists can see them up close.  I had no idea they were so large, until I saw them up close!  The are so gentle and slow moving and I would love to snorkel with them.  Another day trip I for see in the future.

We also saw a movie star hippo, ton’s of aligators, birds, reptiles, otters and ton’s of fish.  The park is officially for any species of Florida.  But wait!  I did list a hippo.  Hippo’s aren’t part of Florida.  Well, there is a great story behind it.

The hippo came to Florida many years ago as a baby to be in a few movies.  He just ended up being part of that park until the Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park was formed.  The state decided that only Florida wildlife was to be there and that the hippo must go.  But “NO”, said the locals and because of their efforts, the hippo is still part of the park.  He is now 48 years old.

If you are ever in Florida, this park is a must see for everyone in the family.  Plenty of things for the kids to see and touch and the adults will love all the nature.

After the walk through the park and enjoying all the wildlife, we went to Crystal City to find that perfect restaurant.

We went to a place called The Cracker Bar and Grill.  Great place to sit outside, by the water and watch all the boats float by.  I had a fried grouper sandwich, which is one of my fav fish to eat.  Of course, I had to grab a couple of shrimp from my husband’s plate.

When they brought our plates to use, my husband held up one of his shrimp and said, “Look.  It’s a two headed shrimp.”.  Sometimes, I wonder about him.  I told him they did a butterfly cut so it would fry better.  He still swore they were 2 headed shrimp.  That’s why I love him!!

If you girls want to see a great chick flick with your friends, go watch Sex and the City.  I went to see it yesterday with some girl friends of mine and just loved it!!  There were a couple of scenes that I laughed so hard I cried.  Great movie for a day out with the gal pals.

There is some skin shown in this movie, so it’s not for everyone.
