Blog Prompt – Today is Veterans Day in the USA. Tell me about someone in your family who was in the military or someone you know.
There aren’t enough words to express how I feel about our military. These are the bravest men and women in the world, along with their families. They sacrifice so much so our country stays free!
This day is also very special to me because I come from a long line of military. My father spent 20 years in the Navy, my brother spent 5 years in the Navy and is still in the National Guard and soon to retire after 20 years of that. My husband served 5 years in the Air Force and his father served during WWII.
Thank you so much to everyone of you. God Bless!!
I have a couple of layouts that show family members in uniform that I must share with you today.

Blog Prompt – This weekend is Armed Forces today. This holiday is celebrated by many countries and I would love to hear about someone you know who you admire in the Armed Forces.
I can’t describe in words how much it means to see someone in uniform and the sacrifices they are giving to our country.
I was raised the first part of my life as a Navy baby. My father retired from the Navy after 20 years and my brother is still serving in the National Guard. He will soon retire from it after 20 years.
My husband spent a few years in the Air Force as did his father during WWII in the Army. He had 6 members of his family in the same war and they all returned home safely.
My hat goes off to each and every one of you and I thank God everyday for you and what you are doing for our country.
I have a few layouts I have done over the years to show my appreciation of family members I would like to share with you.

A layout I did for my brother with a poem my husband wrote to him while he was deployed to Iraq. His son was born while he was gone and my husband wrote the poem from my nephew’s point of view. credit – This was a freebie kit from way back and I apologize to the designer. But there was no credit in the folder.
A picture of the six family members that all fought during WWII and who all came back safely. These are all members of my husbands family and I have only met a couple of them. credit – Miss Crows Magickal Emporium
My father before he was my dad back in the early 50′s on his ship on one of his deployments. His work room was also where he would bed down. credit – Miss Crows Magickal Emporium
Blog Prompt: Today is Veterans Day. Please explain what this day means to you and if you have a layout, we would love to see it.

I feel safe knowing we have a President that will take a stand on terrorism and do something about it. Not just talk about it for years.
I feel safe knowing that our military is always on duty 24/7. These people have given their lives for our country and kept us free.
I feel safe knowing that our firefighters and police are working around the clock to make sure we are safe in our streets and our homes. I just wish our society would let them do their jobs.
I feel safe knowing my husband will always stand before me when it comes to safety. I love having a man around the house that cares about the safety of his family.
And last but not least, I feel safe knowing that my crazy dog is there with his keen sense of smell and sharp ears always on alert and ready to lick and slobber on anyone that gets close to his mom.
My new bike was delivered the other day in pieces and the instructions that came with it told us how to put on the seat, handle bars and peddles but nothing on how to put the front tire and splash guard on. This bike is only a single speed, so we thought, how hard can this be.
We played with it and played with it and finally got it done and figured it was right. Filled up the tires and I took it out for a trial run. A couple of my neighbors came over to check it out and each of them said, “Your front tire is on backwards.” Glenn and I looked at each other and just busted out laughing. So, all the men standing there trying to figure out how to take it apart and turn the tire around. I walked over and suggested to grab the handle bars, turn the tire all the way around and then just turn the handle bars back to the front again. That way you don’t have to take the tire off and just loosen one screw at the handle bars.
Those men looked at me like, now how did you figure that out. I just smiled and went my way.
The main reason why I got the bike was so the dog could run next to me to get more exercise. Those same men stood around just to see the dog pull me off the bike going down the road. They wanted to see me crash and burn! Well, there was no way I was going to let that happen. Got the dog and walked with him next to the bike to make sure he wasn’t scared. He did fine and then I started riding the bike with him trotting along the side. HE LOVED IT!!!! He stayed far enough away from the bike for safety and I was really proud of him.
I have purchesed this attachment, the WalkyDog, for my bike and any of you out there that want to ride with your dog, this is a must and really works well. I have a video below that shows how this product works.
I went down to the end of the road and back and the men were all in a row in awe. I told them, “Don’t ever under estimate the power of a menopausal woman!”
Blog Prompt: Tell five things you would buy with your last $20 and why.
Since I am all about food, it would probably be a really good cheeseburger and fries and a fountain Diet Coke. I would also buy a couple of candy bars made with dark chocolate.
That would be my 5 things I would buy. Yes, I am pitiful……hehehe……..but happy!!

I love this story and since I have Navy blood in my body, I thought I would pass it on to you.
USS New York was built with 24 tons of scrap steel from the World Trade Center . It is the fifth in a new class of warship - designed for missions that include special operations against terrorists. It will carry a crew of 360 sailors and 700 combat-ready Marines to be delivered ashore by helicopters and assault craft.
Steel from the World Trade Center was melted down in a foundry in Amite , LA to cast the ship’s bow
section. When it was poured into the molds on Sept 9, 2003, ‘those big rough steelworkers treated it with total reverence,’ recalled Navy Capt. Kevin Wensing, who was there. ‘It was a spiritual moment for everybody there.’
Junior Chavers, foundry operations manager, said that when the trade center steel first arrived, he touched it with his hand and the ‘hair on my neck stood up.’ ‘It had a big meaning to it for all of us,’ he said. ‘They knocked us down. They can’t keep us down. We’re going to be back.’
What kind of stories do you like best? Tear-jerkers? Happy endings? Unexpected twists? Or all of the above?
It’s funny that this blog prompt came up today, because the story below is a certain “Happy Ending, tear jerker” story that I love to hear about. This short video is patritism at it’s best and one of the things that brings tears to my eyes and a smile on my face at the same time.
More than 1,200 US troops serving in Iraq signed up for extended service in the military to mark America’s national day on the 4th at the spacious Al-Faw palace of dictator Saddam Hussein near Baghdad airport.
The US military has regularly re-enlisted service members in Iraq but Friday’s swearing-in was one of the largest, the military said.
It’s sad that you don’t see stuff like this on the news and have to see it on the internet. What’s wrong with a media that doesn’t support our men in uniform?
