I love movies that make me laugh. If I have to think too much during the movie, to me, that defeats the purpose of watching a movie.
To this day, my favorite comedy is National Lampoon’s Animal House. I don’t know why. It’s corny and stupid, but it makes me laugh. The horse, Belushi on the ladder going from window to window, “Guess what I am?”, etc. One of the reasons, I guess, why that movie makes me laugh is because I had just gotten out of college when it came out.
Others include National Lampoon’s Vacation and Christmas Vacation, Ace Ventura (Dan Marino is in that one and the Miami Dolphins), My Cousin Vinny has some great lines in it, an oldie No Time for Sergent’s (Andy Griffith is a hoot and I love to repeat some of his lines sometimes), There’s Something About Mary and I could go on and on.
All this month, TCM has been running nothing but Oscar nominated movies. I love this every year and try to find a new movie I haven’t seen or watch an oldie but a goodie. This year I recorded Citizen’s Kane and Casablanca. I have only seen bits and pieces of Casablanca and none Citizen’s Kane.
I have a gadget in the right column that shows what movies are showing during the day on TCM this month.
My top 10 favorite movies are:
1. Gone with the Wind (Rhett Butler, just the name makes me swoon)
2. Wizard of Oz (every childs fantasy)
3. Steel Magnolias (girlfriends)
4. Cinderella Man (struggles of life)
5. The Godfather (you gotta love Italian men)
6. Rear Window (actually I love many of Hitchcock’s movies)
7. Bonnie and Clyde – 1967
8. Jaws (“I think we need a bigger boat” – one of my favorite lines ever said on the screen)
9. The Last of the Mohicans (the soundtrack is worth watching the movie)
10. I love any disaster movie – Earthquake, Independence Day, Armageddon, Airport, Deep Impact, The Day After Tomorrow, Outbreak, Twister, The Towering Inferno, Backdraft and Ladder 49. Cloverfield is the newest one on my list here and I can’t wait to see the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still
I would love to know your favorites.
Here is a short clip of, I consider, one of the best kisses ever on screen between Rhett and Scarlett.
We finally finished our taxes this weekend and I sent them efile. I’ve never used that for myself personally, but have heard other people say their refunds came quickly. We will see! The do charge about $20.00 to efile state taxes using Turbo Tax.
I don’t know if any of you use Turbo Tax, but we have been using it for years and I love it. It’s so easy to use and even though our Federal return is over 40 pages long, its still much cheaper than an accountant.
I hope someday congress will pass a much simpler form of doing taxes or getting rid of it all together. I am an advocate for the Fair Tax system and feel that its the fairest way for Americans to keep their full payroll check and just pay a bit higher on purchases. You also receive a prebate for the neccessaties of life every month. More money in your pocket and you don’t ever have to worry about the IRS again. Please read up on it and contact your representative and senator to support H.R. 25 which is already on the floor in congress. We need more supporters for this bill.
I found the neatest little quiz to find out what your “word” is. Mine is hope, and it describes me well. There are only about 5 questions and then you can post your answer on your blog. I hope you enjoy.
Your Word is “Hope”
You see life as an opportunity for learning, growth, and bringing out the best in others.
No matter how bad things get, you always have at least a glimmer of optimism.
You are accepting and forgiving. You encourage those who have wronged you to turn over a new leaf.
And while there is a lot of ugliness in the world, you believe that almost no one is beyond redemption.
Blog Prompt: Today is Punch the Clock Day. Describe the best day you have had this month.
Everyday is my “best day” when you are retired and don’t have to punch that clock anymore. Don’t have to hear that alarm in the morning, sit around and drink coffee, read the paper and watch the birds and butterflies in my back yard. During the day I can take a nap, watch a movie or take a nice bike ride.
Until March I am helping with the community play as the stage manager and that is keeping me busy right now. I am truely enjoying this. Even though it is way out of my comfort zone. My neighbor is the director and asked me if I would help her. So far, its a lot of fun and the play is very funny. Its called the Cemetery Club and is about 3 widows who visit their dead husbands at the cemetery every month until a new man comes walking into their lives. This play is perfect for a retirement community and so many can relate to the story. I hope to have pictures to show everyone as we get to the dress rehersal part. I will have to scrap this adventure for sure.
I do miss working with all the people in the job force though. You make friends and enjoy their company everyday.
But, if I had to choose the work force or retirement. Retirement would win every single time.
Now for my own movie critique.
The other day I watched P.S. I Love You. I just loved this movie and it makes a great date or girl movie to watch. The story always kept me focus and I love a movie that makes me cry and laugh at the same time.
P.S. I Love You is about a young girl who recently lost her husband and has a hard time dealing with it. Her friends are helping but then on her 30th birthday she receives a birthday cake that no one ordered and a tape of her husband telling her what to do on her birthday.
I will stop there because I don’t want to give anything away. I give this movie a deffinant 4 stars for sure and you can find this movie easily on DVD.
Blog Prompt: Tell about the worse movies you have ever seen.
I cannot deal with the “F” word being said every other word in a movie, so I stay away from them if possible. To say I have seen a really bad movie lately, I would have to say no. I usually check out the movie before I watch it. I have seen good movies using the “F” word a lot and it was really hard for me to watch it, but the story was really great! I just can’t be open minded when it comes to that.
I want to be entertained when I pay $7.00 for a movie and not leave in discust. I love to laugh a lot while watching movies and shead a tear now and again.
The latest movies I went to see with some women friends was Sex and the City and Mamma Mia.
If you loved Sex and the City’s TV show, then you would love the movie. And I’m sure all you women out there would love the bit of skin shown on one of the hot guys in the movie. *fans self* Sorry. I like looking at good looking men.
I loved watching and singing through Mamma Mia. I love Abba’s music and this movie was worth watching and when it comes out on DVD, I will probably watch it again. I will also watch Sex and the City’s movie when it comes out on DVD.
As most of you know, Tropical Storm Fay is making its way through Southern Florida as I type this.
I lived in Central Florida during the year the most hurricanes in history were recorded. But, none really made an impact on Florida except for some rain. Key West was hit a few times, but they are always ready for hurricanes and know what to do at a drop of a hat.
Since Tropical Storm Fay was suppose to be more than what we have seen since we have lived here, I was really preparing my home and family for the worse. I am really impressed how the press and the Governor prepares the citizens of Florida for a hurricane. Other coastal states should learn something from Florida and how it prepares for disasters.
So far all we have received is 1.10″ of rain yesterday from a feeder band and the real rain should start in a few hours. We need the rain and this will help the water tables a lot.
This storm has truely prepared us for what may or should I say, happen in the future.
As long as I can remember, I have loved to do crafts, paint, draw, sew, anything like that. And now I am using those crafty talents at my business, Personalized Creations.
So, where did I get my talent? I really don’t know!! There really isn’t anyone in my family that loves being really crafty. I guess this was something that I just learned on my own. My aunt and mom love to scrapbook, but that’s about it. And I do have a cousin that is very talented when it comes to drawing. But where did she get her talent from? hhhhhmmmmmmm I must call my mom and aunt and see if there was someone in our family that was crafty.
I have always been the kind of person to figure out a problem or read up on what I want to do. Just like learning to digi scrap. I’m tellin ya, if it hadn’t been for all the wonderful CT’s and designers, I wouldn’t have learned how to make any layout.
I should scrap a page about my craft stuff.
Oh and btw, for those of you who want great blog prompts every day, the same one’s I use, you will find there here. Glynis, Pat and Tink come up with some great prompts

I watched a great sci-fi movie last night and I must say Cloverfield is the best that has come around in a very long time. This movie is seen through the eyes of someone who just happen to have his video camera with him when New York came under attack. It’s a short move, about an hour and a half and has a great monster in it. The movie gets to the point and I loved how they did the ending. It’s rated PG and is available on DVD. I watched it on Pay Per View in HD, so I could get great sound quality.
I love retrodiva’s newest June kit she has in her stores now. Beautiful colors and elements for summer time.
She is also running a 50% sale through June 25th. You can also go there for great “Download a Day” freebies. But, you must get them daily, because they will be archived and only available with a subscription.

I LOVE movies and watch them all the time and there’s not too many I won’t watch. Some of my favorites are
Gone with the Wind
Wizard of Oz
Cinderella Man
My Cousin Vinny
Halloween
Alien
The Godfather
Bonnie and Clyde
King Kong (1933)
War of the Worlds(1953)
Psycho (1960)
Raiders of the Lost Ark
It’s A Wonderful Life
To Kill a Mocking Bird
Forrest Gump
Rebecca
Jaws
Cool Hand Luke
The Sixth Sense
The Way We Were
Steel Magnolias
This list could go on and on and on. I noticed my list didn’t have any newer movies. There have been a couple of movies in the new century that I have really liked, but that’s it. Seems Hollywood’s idea of a good movie today, isn’t what I call a good movie.
