Blog Prompt: Today is Spouse’s Day. What is something nice you will do for a special person in your life?

One thing that I can always do special for my hubby is to make him a good Southern home cooked meal.  Or something very comforting.

Tonight I am making meatloaf with all the fixins.  He loves meatloaf.  I’m not that crazy about it, but I always love watching him enjoy every bite of his dinner.

Saturday night I baked pork chops with a gravy and I thought the man was going to kiss my feet.  He loves gravy for sure. He loves to put a bit of gravy on biscuits or bread.  Good ole country boy for sure.

Sunday rolled around and we were eating leftovers and he wanted to know where the rest of the gravy was for the pork chop that was left over.  I told him when I put the left over pork chop in the bowl, I just put enough gravy on it to cover it and threw out the rest.  Well, you would’ve thought I committed a major sin.

I now know you “Never through out gravy!”

Blog Prompt: Today is National Popcorn Day. Do you like or dislike popcorn and why?

When I was pregnant, all those years ago,  there was a couple of things that made me really sick if I would smell them.  Cabbage cooking and food cooking at a carnival.  Right before my son was born, I went to our annual Cotton Carnival parade and the smell of the food cooking almost made me loose my cookies.

One of those smells is popping popcorn and the lingering smell it has.  Especially when you pop it in the house.  Now if its plain pop corn, I’m ok.  Its the really buttery smell that gets to me.  Strange, yes, I know.

I do remember when I was younger this great thing called Jiffy Pop Popcorn that you made on the stove.  It was so cool to watch it cook and the top would get bigger and bigger.

What fun is there in putting a bag in the microwave now for popcorn.  Bring back the good ole days.

Blog Prompt: Today is National Skeptics Day. What have you heard lately that you know in your heart isn’t true?

I worry about what our media does to its viewers sometimes.  I see so much negative and not enough good coming from the news in many years now.   They seem to only see the bad in individuals and in stories sent over the air ways.   I also wonder what it does to our children when they see only bad in the world.  Our children have a hard enough time in this world without seeing negativity all the time.

And I am always skeptical about things that are just $19.99!!!!!!

Blog Prompt: Today is Play God Day. Tell about something nice you will do for someone today.

Today I am helping the neighbor across the street give his wife a surprise party.  She is turning 60 today and didn’t want to do anything. But, her husband felt she should have a surprise party.  My job is to get her to the party.  I hope she hasn’t figured it out.

All the guys are going golfing today and another friend, the birthday girl and I are suppose to go out for drinks and dinner to celebrate her birthday.  Little does she know we have something else planned.

I hope to have pictures to share next week.

Ernest T. Bass is my friend for sure.  Even though today he didn’t eat his pill that he has to take everyday and now I have to hunt him down and force it down his throat.  What a slobber mess that always is.

Blog Prompt – Meaning of your name

Tammy is a feminine given name. It can be a short form of the names Tamsin, Thomasina, or Tamara. Tamara is a Russian form of the name Tamar, which means palm tree.   The name was popularized by a film series made in the 1950s and 1960s about a lovable backwoods girl named Tammy Tyree.

Tamara is my given name but I have always gone by Tammy.  When my mom was pregnant back in the 50′s, she also had a good friend that was due at the same time as her.  So, who ever had the 1st girl would get to name her daughter Tammy.  I guess I won. 

Its also funny that my name means “palm tree” because I loved living in Hawaii and I love living in Florida now.  So, its fittin that my name fits my life style.

How you feel about travel?

I love to travel but its getting to where I don’t like to sit for long periods of time.  Of course, it never fails that when we travel in the car, our trip is usually over 8 hours long and that gets hard on the old body. 

Plane trips are just as bad.  My husband wants to go to Switzerland to see where his father was during WWII and the idea of being on a plane for 14 hours bothers me a lot.  There is no room to move and I can’t imagine being on a plane for more than 10 hours at a time!! 

Maybe someone can tell me how they travel for more than a few hours on a plane.
