Our Anniversary

My husband and I spent a couple of days at St. Augustine, Florida for our anniversary.  We had both been there many years ago, but didn’t pay attention to the history and as a younger person, thought it was boring.  So, we figured age would help us appreciate it more.  Its about 2 hours from where we live, so it made this a quick but very enjoyable trip.  The weather was in the 80′s but the first day we had the usual Florida afternoon quick showers.

I had never been to a Ripley’s Believe It or Not and really enjoyed all the quirky things that happen in this world.  My favorite exhibit was the pictures made only of jewels.  WOW!!  Really sparkly.

There was the million dollar man made of shredded money, the 6 legged cow, the headless rooster, the two headed rabbit (can you tell I enjoyed the farm area?).   There were also many items from other countries there that were very interesting to read about.  The house that the exhibit is in is haunted, so they say.  I wouldn’t want to be there at night for sure.

We walked down St George St. which is the hub of the city.  We saw the oldest wooden school in the US, some beautiful architecture, I love the cobble stone streets, Flagler College, the Gate and many beautiful shops.

We also took a haunted walking tour that was very interesting.  The history of the Oldest City in the US is well worth the time to hear and there is 400 years of stories and hauntings to listen and learn about.  We walked around the fort at dusk hearing all the haunting stories from way back.  And the view of the water with all the boats as the sun was going down was stunning.  We walked threw a small part of the city and hearing the stories of the dead and how some have seen them late at night.  We visited a couple of cemetery’s and I got one picture that I am really thinking might have an interesting apparitions.  But, I guess, I will never know.  That was a fun tour for sure.  Not only entertaining but very educational too.

We had a wonderful dinner on the beach that we both enjoyed.  We were the only ones on the patio, it was cool, the view was great and the food was outstanding.  Not too many times I can say that.  I love blackened grouper and it was cooked perfectly.  My husband even said his steak was one of the best he had ever ate.

The next day we went to the Old Jail.  We had a great time there.  The tour guide, Deputy Clyde, was A+ in my book.  He not only told us enough history but he also made us laugh and enjoy ourselves.  I highly recommend the tours for anything in St. Augustine.  Especially if you are a history buff.

We drove by the lighthouse, but didn’t go in.  I did get a couple of beautiful shots of it.  We also went into a wax museum.  I had never seen one and Glenn thought I would get a kick out of it.  It was really neat and I had a couple of pictures made with some “stars”.

There are a few things we didn’t do and we will go back again.  I want to go into the Fountain of Youth and the Oldest School House for sure.

We had a wonderful couple of days celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary and learning a little bit about the state we live in and our country.  St. Augustine is for an older croud of people.  The children would like the beaches and fun parks for sure.

I took tons of pictures and will have layouts soon to show off.

Have a great day,

The Ulitmate Weekend

Blob Prompt – My ultimate anything goes weekend

It’s funny that this blog prompt came up today.  My husband and I were in the car the other day for a few hours and to pass the time while we were listening to beautiful Christmas music on the radio, driving along HWY 1 in Florida and looking at all the beautiful beach homes, we talked about an ultimate weekend we would like to have.

We both want to head up to the Gatlinburg, TN area after Thanksgiving or even New Years Eve and enjoy one of the cabins in the mountains, watching it snow, being able to take our dog and walking around in the Gatlinburg area and maybe doing a little bit of shopping.  I’ve never been there, but I hear its just beautiful during the Christmas season.  Viewing the beautiful mountains and just relaxing and getting away from everything for awhile.

I also have another little Christmas game for you to play and I hope you enjoy it.  Click here to take you there.

What would you do for money?

Blog Prompt – “Would you eat a bowl of live crickets for $40,000? Explain why or why not?”

Yes, I believe I could eat crickets for that amount of money.  And the main reason is because my husband has worked so hard to make sure he had money for his retirement and make life better for us, I would want to give him that money so that maybe I can get him to take some time off and enjoy life for a couple of weeks.  Even though he has retired from the fire department, he still works on the rentals and now we have started a painting business.

I want him to enjoy life now that he is 60 and take him to Switzerland to see where his dad was during WWII.

Vegas Anyone?

I love going to Vegas and each time I go I find a new adventure to try.  Even though I don’t gamble that much there is so much other exciting things to see and do on Vegas vacations.  Tours, the strip, shows and driving out in the vast open area around Vegas is breath taking.  Try Vegas for your next vacation.
