My Office, Word Art Challenge and Monogrammed Bows

Wow, it’s Monday already, so what do you say that we journal about “the office.” Be it away from home or at home (and for those of you who say I don’t have an office, I’m a sahm, well, you surely do. Where do you sit to pay the bills, plan the schedules, make the calls?)

This was one of the very first layouts which got me hooked on digital scrap booking.  The kit is called Digiscrappin‘ by Elizabeth Weaver and the challenge was to scrap your desk.  I love how the bulletin board turned out.  It looks so much like my desk.  That was fun!

I love my office and even though I work from home, I have a great space to work.  I do wish it was a wee bit bigger to lay out my items I make for orders to keep separated.  But, I manage.

One wall is book shelves full of books, pictures and items from our past.  It’s a great area to keep all our “stuff”.  The other wall is my desk, computer and items for my business.  The closet is a great place to store office and business supplies.

I have a radio on all the time, window to the front part of my home, a rug and pillow for the dog, a small curio cabinet with a lot of my Miami Dolphin items to show off and anything else I need to work with.

The only thing I need to do now is recover a chair my parents had for years.  It’s that awful 70′s gold velvet and I have a wonderful rust color material to recover it with, I am just waiting for my husband to bring me the staple gun to get the job done.

But basically that is my office and I love working from home now.

Horses and Word Art Challenge

Blog Prompt: May 3 was the running of the Kentucky Derby. Would you want to be a horse? Why or why not?

I owned a few horses when I was on the farm, way back when.  My first horse was just as sweet as she could be.  Her name was Ginger and one day she cut the back of her leg bad enough that we had to put her down.  Our next horse was a bit wild and even after training, she just wasn’t good for us, so we sold her and I haven’t had one since.  They are magnificent creatures, but they are an accident waiting to happen.  It broke my heart to see what happened at the Kentucky Derby and I hate what they have to do to get those animals ready for those races.  Its sad.

But to be a horse?  NO!!!!!  That hugh body on those toothpick legs, and always carrying someone on your back!!  And what would I eat all the time; grass, hay and oats.  No, such a boring life.

Tax Day, Fast Food and a Challenge

Since it’s Income Tax day, I give you permission to rant or In 1955, the first McDonalds opened it doors. How do you feel about fast food?

I will talk about both.

I feel very strongly about the Fair Tax. My husband and I hate the IRS and I’m sure you do to!! Why do we have to give the government money that we have earned. It should stay in your pockets, not theirs.

For those of you who don’t know about this, its a tax reform where you don’t pay income taxes any more!!! You would pay a flat tax rate on NEW items you buy, no taxes taken out of your payroll check, you don’t have to worry about April 15th anymore. This will be a Federal consumer sales tax on items you purchase, rather than your income. This insures that everyone pays taxes, but not just the working class. Again, based on your consumption of items.

Ladies, I implore you to please check out this system. Look at your payroll check, your husbands payroll check and think about all that money coming back into your house for you and your family.

There are 2 books about this system out called The FairTax Book: Saying Goodbye to the Income Tax and the IRS and FairTax: The Truth: Answering the Critics. These books are outstanding at explaining the Fair Tax system.

Please check out the website and sign the petition if you also believe in the Fair Tax.

Now then, to a more mouth watering subject. FOOD!!!!!!! My favorite subject. Who doesn’t love fast food. Nice juicy cheeseburger with all the fixins and fries!!!!!!!! But, I know ladies, its not good for us or our children so we must eat is sparingly. I would love to know what your favorite fast food is.

I propose that we make sure our dreaded taxes are in the mail today and then everyone go to McDonald’s!!!!!!!!!!
