Collection
Did you collect anything as a child? Why or why not? What was the significance of your collection and where did you procure it? Do you still have any or all of the collection now?
When I was in Girl Scouts, many, many, MANY years ago, you could get a badge for collecting. So I did a penny collection. My mother told me to go see my great grandmother and that she might have some really old pennies. Well, she gave me her “pocket book” to look through that was full of pennies. I found so many really old pennies that my collection goes back to the 1920′s.
I still have that collection and need to start back from the year 2000. I am sure its not worth anything, but remembering time with my grandma is worth more than any amount of money.
My collection that I treasure the most is of the Miami Dolphin’s quarterback Dan Marino memorabilia. I have tons of stuff from him that I have displayed many places in my home. I have been collecting since the late 80′s and have lots of his sports cards, stuffed toys, coins, bobble heads, autographed football, part of his racing car, autographed pictures, cereal box, small football helmets, beer bottles, small figures from his college days, lunch box and lots of magazines. My prize possession is an autographed by Marino, Miami Dolphin #13 team jersey that was given to my on my 40th birthday and I hang it proudly in my house. A friend of mine that played with the Dolphins back in the 70′s had Mr. Marino sign the jersey for me.

Awesome collections…and I started watching football AFTER Marino, but my hubby said he was definitely one of the best!!
At least you know the penny collection will always be worth the actual amount of the money! Like you said, the time with your grandmother was priceless!
Oh my goodness, great minds think alike, in re:girl guides….lol. I did all the badges to collect them…neat on your penny ones..way back to the 1920 one….awesome
I’m not into football, but I do know of Marino…..how cool is that to have a signed jersey from him.
