Blog Prompt: On this day in 1959, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art opened in New York City. Describe a time that you have been to a museum.
My favorite museum so far is The Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. My son was about 5 when we went and there was tons of “hands on” things he could do. There was also a huge display of the heart and I was able to show him what had happened to his Papaw when he had his heart attack. That was a special day.
Back in the 70′s while I was in Girl Scouts, we took a trip to Washington D.C. and I just loved the Smithsonian. We only had a few hours there and all I wanted to see what the Hope Diamond. What girl doesn’t want to dream about a 67 carat diamond. We get there and I was disappointed. It was blue and just not what I was thinking it would be. 
I was also not interested in the history of this wonderful gem. Now I am and I hope some day I can go back to the museum to spend so much more time there and enjoy.

Believe it or not. The Smithsonian is one museum I have never been too. Always longed and subscribed to their magazine and was a member for years. One of these days though.
I love the Smithsonian too! Since I have so many meetings in DC, we go there about 3 times a year. Now we only go to the new exhibits because we have been there so much.
