Passing on Knowledge
In what areas do you feel you have knowledge you can pass on to others?
I think we all pass on knowledge to others and our next generation. I hope I am able to pass on things that are useful and usable.
I guess the best thing I am known for is that I am the Neighborhood Geek. I get phone calls now and again from neighbors having problems with their computers and I am always happy to pass on a little knowledge and help. Sometimes, as I try to explain how something works on their computer, I get that “blank” look. I try to explain in layman’s terms, but I end up hearing. I have no idea what you are talking about and if it works, then that’s all that matters.
I also hope that I can pass on a smile, kind words and a hug now and again to people I see every day. I also love to pass on some of my redneck life to my neighbors from the north. That is knowledge they all need to learn from.
My son came to visit my parents and me this past weekend so he could visit with my dad, who is very ill. My parents and my dh and I live in a 55+ community and my son was very intrigued to see how retired people live. He only had the movie Cocoon envisioned in his head. He found out that we all live a more active life then he ever thought of. He loved the idea of being able to get around in a golf cart and everything you ever needed was right there. He was also wanting to enjoy Florida weather, since its already cold where he lives, but no!! The weather was rainy and in the 60′s. Not normal for our area.
We also visited the area buffalo’s that are raised in this community also. You can feed them carrots and they love them. I also found out to NEVER TRY TO PET THEM!! I now have a pretty purple bruise on my arm when he lifted his head and his horn caught my under arm. So, now I can say I have been attached by a buffalo.
I love that photo!!! In Florida, retirement communities are like a giant funfest aren’t they? So I have heard….

How wonderful that you were able to spend time with your son. I know when either of mine visit, everything else is put on hold. Loved that you wanted to pass along a smile and redneck knowledge. Got a great tickle out of it.
I love being able to pass on geek information! I’m the geek female at my church .. and the women that I talk with don’t even know how to adjust their system volume, let alone how to do anything more complicated!! Have a wonderful day .. and enjoy your geekdom!

Glad your son was able to see active seniors in action. LOL. Hope that nasty bruise fades fast.
So now I know who to call when I have computer problems! As for retirement, I’m busier now that I’ve retired. I might need to go back to work just to rest.
