Road Trip Snacks

Do you have a favorite snack to eat on a road trip?

When I am going to be in the car for any amount of time, I must have my sodie.  Where I am from, sodie is pronounced i.  With a long e.  Instead of saying soda, we say sodie.

Anyway, I’m not much on drinking caffeine and I usually just have one can soda a day.  (Did you noticed I said, soda, instead of sodie?  Soda’s come in a can, sodie’s come in a fountain).  But, when we are in the car, I gotta stop at the local convenience store and get me one of those great big sodie’s for the trip.  That’s the only time I do that.  I guess it’s a treat thing.  Who know’s.

And of course, my husband just gives me you know what about that too!  He just thinks I ain’t right about that and this is the same man that eats banana’s and mayo sandwiches!  And for the record, he likes to take a few sips from my sodie when I’m not lookin.  ;)

Now as for food on trips.  I’m not much on eating on the road.  Heck, I have enough problems with my weight, I don’t need to add any snacks to make it worse.  Besides, when you are on a road trip, you know you are going out to eat for your meals and you also know that they calorie content of road food is much higher.

So I figure, if I have a giant Diet Coke sodie on the road and not eat snacks, but eat the road food.  I’m not doing too bad.

  1. I love hacing those big cups of soda on long trips.:)

  2. Oh, I love road trip food. It’s like, the only time we would ever indulge on junk food. Thankfully my family have nothing against eating in the car, or else it would be really troublesome. My cousin had this thing where she wouldn’t allow anyone to eat in her car (no matter whether it’s a long or short distance) so I was like, ‘It must have not been fun to be her.’

  3. I can’t drink large sodas while traveling or we spend the entire trip on potty stops. I do stop for coffee or a latte and I have an exact place we stop on I-5 going south.

  4. If we stop at McDonalds or Burger King, I usually get a small soft drink and hubby always gets a big one. When we leave, I fill his cup up and it becomes mine for the road!

  5. That is one big sodie! I think I would be too fidgety from the caffeine if I drank one of those during a road trip he he

  6. Sodas are a treat for me too. I think they are ridiculously overpriced at restaurants and c-stores, so when I get one, it’s a big deal!!
