Sewing
Blog Prompt: Today is Sewing Machine Day. If you could sew, what is something you would love to make or if you already sew, what was your favorite thing you made. Describe it.
I love to sew and use to sew all my sons little jumpers when he was a toddler and I have made curtains, pillows, clothes and other items. I haven’t sewn clothes in awhile because patterns are almost $20.00 each now. Sometimes it’s cheaper to buy clothes then to make them.
I took sewing in Jr. High and the outfit I made was my very 1st complete item I did. I wore it the last day of school and I remember strutting down the halls in my navy blue jumpsuit with a knee length short sleeve jacket. Remember, this was 1971 and that was the style. I wish I had a picture of it to show off.
My latest sewing adventure are these golf club covers for my mom’s clubs. I just had to make them shocking pink and apple and I know she is 70 years old, but I bet there won’t be any other’s like it on the golf course. I put her initial on them, so she wouldn’t forget who they belong too.
These are for her birthday and I hope she doesn’t read my blog. They are just too cute!!
My next item to sew is to recover a 1970′s gold velvet chair with material that is more updated. My father use to upholstery furniture all the time, so I hope I picked up a few tips from him. I will post a picture later.

Your blog got me all juiced up thinking about sewing! I sewed all my clothes in the mid 80′s – I was in my late teens and early 20′s and the free style of clothes in the 80′s made it especially fun for sewing! I even sewed the flashy lames and spandex things that were my “barwear” I don’t sew so much now, largely due to a broken serger and my Kennemore that got lost in my move.
A few years ago I hand stitched the “candy wrappers” my SO ad I wore for Halloween. (We were Mounds and Almond Joy – I was mounds because, well, Almond Joy’s got nuts!
My next sewing project will be a quilt. Grandma is going to tEach me how to quilt to make all of the t-shirts that are falling apart but my honey can’t part with them into something he won’t have to part with…and I’ll have more clothes putting away room in his t-shirt drawer! LOL
