Stories That Make Me Cry and Smile
What kind of stories do you like best? Tear-jerkers? Happy endings? Unexpected twists? Or all of the above?
It’s funny that this blog prompt came up today, because the story below is a certain “Happy Ending, tear jerker” story that I love to hear about. This short video is patritism at it’s best and one of the things that brings tears to my eyes and a smile on my face at the same time.
More than 1,200 US troops serving in Iraq signed up for extended service in the military to mark America’s national day on the 4th at the spacious Al-Faw palace of dictator Saddam Hussein near Baghdad airport.
The US military has regularly re-enlisted service members in Iraq but Friday’s swearing-in was one of the largest, the military said.
It’s sad that you don’t see stuff like this on the news and have to see it on the internet. What’s wrong with a media that doesn’t support our men in uniform?

My son and daughter-in-law have fought in Iraq, and I am so proud of both of them……Haven’t been here in awhile…I have a lot of catching up to do….have a great day Tammy!
Thanks for sharing that! I think part of the problem is that the media wants everyone over here to believe that our military members are being forced to be in Iraq.News people really seem to be uncomfortable with the concept of duty, honor, country. We obviously still have a deeply patriotic country and we should all be thankful for it.
Thanks for your post and for sharing that video. Yep, it made me sniffle a little bit. True American heroes! Hoo-rah!
Thanks for sharing this! I’m so greatful for people who are willing to do this. Every time I see someone in the military out in public, I want to applaud them.
Hi
Gosh you are close. I live in Wildwood, Fl. I wanted to appluade you in your support for our military. I have a 20 year old son the joined the Army in 2006 and left upon high school graduation in 2007. He is currently serving in Iraq. He is my first born so naturally a part of me is over there with him. I miss him terribly. I currently work for the Sumter Cnty School Board and am only working part time during the summer. But as soon as August comes and I am back to fulltime work, I fully intend to purchase 2 military noodle bracelets. One for my son and one for his wife. We try to offer comfort to each other in handling the situation and I know she would appreciate a gift like this. Again, thank you for supporting our troops and I will be in touch in August!!
Thanks Again!
I couldn’t agree more Terry! Great blog you have here!
